It's more a model (both IRL and in CGI) than a texture thing.
"texture" can also refer to the surface roughness/quality, not just the usage in 3d model surface images

Knowing Star Wars, I'm sure there's a novel explaining the corporation that manufactures those boxes, explains how they're centuries old company, how they're considered very reliable and long lasting, and how the family that owns the company had a big spit when the father wanted to cozy up to the Empire and how the son wanted to help the Rebels.
The jerry can is a design that is considered durable and cheap to make, and now they're found everywhere on the planet from WW2 onward.

The point is that this exact line means "future" and is almost universally used.
