The Switch 2 isn't region locked. 😮 That's awesome!

I'm still waiting to get one, hoping for a jailbreak kind of vulnerability. (I doubt we'll get anything as awesome as Fusée Gelée, but I think even if it needs a mod chip, I'll probably go that direction.)

I bought one a couple of weeks ago for the exact same thing haha. I didn’t want the price increase screwing me. The thing might cost $600 by the time a jailbreak comes out lol

I wish Nintendo didn't shank the emulator scene, otherwise I feel like we could have had a PoC Switch 2 emulator by now.

Teardown and comparison; not a single picture.
What is up with these articles??

Oh wait, but there's a video you say? it's in Spanish!

It's an improvement, but I miss the days of battery covers that just slide off so that you can swap in a spare.

I'll admit it seems easier to access the battery, but that is not what I would call replaceable for the average user. I definitely thought it would be externally replaceable when this was announced.

Edit: You still need to take a part the shell and access the switches internals to swap the battery. The big changes seem to be removing the need to remove some adhesive parts and the heat shield doesn't cover the battery anymore.

That's just a couple screws, right?

They could have made them more accessible, I agree, but nowadays even simple AA/AAA-operated toys tend to lock their battery compartment with a screw.

I've had to open a switch 1 to replace the fan. That was quite a bite more annoying, with many more screws and tiny connectors to unplug and plug again. At least no soldering, but, I hope I don't need that again on my 2 any time soon.

Locking the battery behind a screw has been a thing forever. For the switch though, you have to pull the casing apart, which is a little more involves than most people are used to. Additionally it's a corded connection, not just slotting a battery in, I don't think that's a big deal, but probably not something most people have worked with.

a fella could make a killing off of right to repair people who would prefer this model by importing them in bulk

The assholes have given the rest of us little other choice. They're even criminalizing homelessness.

There are always usually options. Whether they are reasonable choices is another matter in this economy.

Great to hear it. The repairability of the new pixel watch shows these things can absolutely be done. Can't wait to see some innovation in better screen/battery swaps on phones.
