That octopus put its entire life into that game.

Nintendo lawyers are getting ready to sue those barnacles for back rent...

When you play DS instead of ferrying the souls of the dead.

I bet it still works and has 80% battery.

Whatever they (Nintendo) did with their batteries, can everyone else do that too?

And yet that could still probably sell for 100 bucks on eBay. Retro game prices are insane

Spoiler: one of the screens is dead, and Up on the D-pad doesn’t work, but otherwise it runs perfectly

[–] Peffse@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

When is the last time you played it? Because... ummm..... there might be some bad news.

[–] restingOface@quokk.au 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Is that still an issue? That's an article from 2021, about a game on a console that is surely new enough to be able to push game updates to patch issues like that.

[–] Peffse@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

It's a cartridge type that uses flash media that degrades over time. So yeah, it's still an issue. More cartridges have probably died since 2021. I know one out of my three did back in 2023.

The 3DS handheld has an automatic repair function built-in that may be able to correct issues, but we also have tools you can use if you have custom firmware.

Oh shit. Well it has been quite a long time now since I played on original hardware. I don’t even know where my 3DS is anymore. I was gonna just play on an emulator honestly. Maybe I’ll try to find it and boot it up again just to be safe…
