no shit it's a crime to give money to vote for their party: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/597 - 18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting

[–] Prior_Industry@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

If this works as a bribe, a judge strikes it down after the event and world continues.

[–] Grostleton@lemmy.dbzer0.com 165 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Why are you insulting President Camacho like this?

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 107 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Man we don’t deserve Camacho- man saw a problem and got the smartest man in the world to fix it

[–] hayvan@piefed.world 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Because Camacho actually cares about people. Something most leaders lack.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

"I don't think about the financial situation of American families".

In fairness Mr. Camacho was gonna give everyone a Million dollars!

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

A million dollars in that time is probably equivalent to $5000 today.

President Camacho was far more qualified to be a leader than the sack of vomit you lot decided to elect twice.

[–] mattyroses@lemmy.today 29 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Seriously, this is slander to a great man. Camacho not only seeks out the most qualified person he can find, he willingly steps aside to let him lead when he's proved right.

[–] xavier666@lemmy.umucat.day 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He also accepted in front of Congress that things are fucked up now due to lack of food. This level of honesty is rare in politics.

President Camocho wouldn't rape kids.

Get his image out of your goddamn meme.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (1 children)

In fact it’s quite the opposite. Terry is a former NFL player who looks like he could break all your bones with a shout, and even he was nervous about backlash but spoke out against unwanted contact after being groped. President Camacho would empty a machine gun into big orange’s face

[–] Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I love that dude. He is salt of the Earth. I hope the universe holds a special place for folks like him.

Thanknyou for sharing.

[–] Napster153@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Bromacho may not have had high IQ but he was no fool. Dude had the presence of mind and the self-awareness to find solutions.

Comacho was representative of the best of those in his times. He should be honored and respected as wise.

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He literally listened to smart people. He surpassed Trump when it comes to IQ.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Everyone in Idiocracy has an IQ higher than trump's

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Welcome to Costco, I love you

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

You made me use Twitter Search for the original post because I genuinely didn't believe this.

This is what I found: https://twitee.co/foxnews/status/2097872390076141726

So... apparently it's real.

Surely everyone can see this is a lie? And if it isn't, then it's got to be illegally paying for votes. I can just see the SC ruling - 'everyone should have known he was lying, so it doesn't count as corruption'

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Surely everyone can see this is a lie?

It works very similarly to those "Nigerian Prince" scam emails, where most people notice the spelling and grammatical errors and just don't engage, but the dumbest among us slip through the filter and go right ahead and send that check for $10,000 with the utmost confidence that they'll be sent back a check for $15,000...

[–] DokPsy@lemmy.world 35 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I think they've made very clear that they use the Nixon rule. If the president does it, it's not illegal

It's a clear violation of 18 USC 597: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/597

Couple of interesting things about this: this covers both the supply side and the demand side of the bribe economy; it's illegal to offer the bribe, and illegal to accept it. Both are punishable for up to 2 years imprisonment per count. So if the US actually were a nation of laws, that would mean approximately 360 million years of prison for the fat orange traitor, and up to 2 years in prison for everybody who votes Republican thinking they're going to get $5,000 for it.

Of course, we're not a nation of laws. Clearly. I mean, Trump has violated the law pretty much every single day (sometimes multiple times per day) that he's been in office, and nothing negative has happened to him. We've all just accepted that our president is a traitor, and that's just the way things are.

That character was infinitely smarter than trump though.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 23 points 4 days ago

Infinitely of better character. Comancho didn't know any better. And he learned better.

This president is a complete piece of shit by character. Not a fraction of a percent of goodness in him. Doesn't even like dogs. His redeeming quality is his arrogance and stupidity that leaves him unable to achieve his callous goals.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And also wasn't a bad person. He actually cared about his constituents!

Camacho saw his people had problems, he searched for the smartest man in the world, found him, and empowered him to make real change.

That's not something politicians do, for that you need an idiot.

[–] jjlinux@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

So he is now a socialist? Mandani must be laughing his ass off after seeing this 🤣

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Isn't it illegal to buy votes? Not that they would care.

[–] CaptainMan251@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Sure is. On top of that, he will not be held responsible for it at all. It doesn't matter who is in power.

[–] iusemybrain@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It's already my money, asshole, where do you think it came from in the first place?

Also, I'd rather have healthcare for all and robust social safety nets, which are far more valuable than a paltry one time 5k payment that he'll weasel out of.

So no money for Medicaid or Medicare, no money for like things that actually fucking matter but when it comes to a mass bribe apparently our economy is doing better than ever, good enough to where 5,000$ to everyone of the republicans win.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Not much life. Not much liberty. Not much pursing happiness. But...oh my God...Cha-Ching!!! /s

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (3 children)

It's a horrible, dumb movie. But knowing that, it's a great time.

Rethuglicans should be less like Dale Gribble and more like Hank Hill.

Hank was a Democrat at heart.

[–] SwissArmyKazoo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

He expects everyone to go full Enfield.

[–] pticrix@lemmy.ca 14 points 4 days ago

But... giving everyone free money, that's COMMUNISM!
The Red TACO strikes again, mimicking his role model : Kim Jong-Un.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

And Mexico is gonna pay for it!!!!

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

Republicans have been promising this since Reagan.

Nothing new.

I’m sure we’ll all be rich any day now.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Man what I would give for a Comancho ticket in 2028. We couldn't ask for better at this point.
