first put them into a safari and hunt them
They don't contain enough calories to feed the hungry. That's why we need to tax them out of existence.
Taxing them is not enough. The capitalist system will continue to enable them to amass power and wealth to overturn any limit on their power in due time.
We must remove the concept of money, private ownership, and wealth in it’s entirety.
They'll always take advantage of people in some way. We can't abide the existence of them.
They always wanted to genocide us.
They still want to exterminate us.
We need to be faster than them.
They cause global warming, they cause wars, they cause the economic framework that destroys health, education, housing.
They do not hide their intentions anymore.
This is would not be murder, neither a Revolution, IT would be self defense.
Nah. But I'd happily feed them to a lion.
Are you sure OP isn't a lion?
Torture and enslave the rich
Well yes but this has always been claimed but never been proven, which is kind of an important thing
Possibly. It has been suggested and investigated, but there is no definite evidence of this, and the two named sources in the book about it give conflicting info, all of it second hand.
The Italian investigation found one case with significant evidence
Prosecutors said the evidence seized included a photo of the suspect with technical equipment and a silencer.
Maybe there's more? This is hardly "significant," a picture of a man with a gun at an unknown time and location. This is the only evidence cited
There's pictures of me with a silenced rifle, and I definitely never hunted people in Sarajevo in the 90s.
Oddly specific.
Where and when DID you hunt people, then?
I've never simultaneously hunted multiple persons.
It's much more enjoyable to have a specific target you have to outwit
Money/power corrupts.
If you've had a taste of power at work, say in middle management, you probably know what I mean. Imagine that 1000X stronger. Hand almost anyone a billion dollars, and they'll quickly lose their compassion and empathy.
You're not immune, you just don't have access.
I don't think that's wrong, exactly, but I think it's an oversimplification. Most poor people who win huge lotteries don't become sinister tycoons, they spend the money and then go back to being poor. Sort of like how when Smeagol and Bilbo and Frodo and Sam wear the one ring, they don't gather armies unto themselves and conquer Middle Earth. They don't know how, and they don't want to learn. I think the corruption of power requires two elements: a knowledge of the cruel mechanisms by which power accumulates, and a will to exercise those mechanisms.
The more one knows about the mechanisms of manipulation, I suspect, the greater the temptation to use them becomes, because the true awesome scope of the power becomes clearer in your mind. Suspect, because I have never enjoyed the option of declining to use massive wealth or political influence. I have had the smallest possible serving of this malignant thing: I once held the title of Manager. It's a small sliver of capitalist power, and while much (if not all) of the power of that role is illusory, the title can confer a small amount of real power over other people. The small decisions I made had huge consequences for the people I had been assigned to manage. When submitting performance evaluations I had to consider the consequences my teammate might face if they lost their job. The temptation to use it for gain is subtle, and justifications for abuse come almost effortlessly to mind. Not abusing power is work, and it's not fun work. It's much easier to just relax, and make decisions as they come, and not worry too much about whether every little decision is fully morally justified. It's so, so easy.
I think it's kind of like a drug in that once you start habitually abusing power, you become dependent on it and have to keep doing it to keep the teetering tower of your own reputation from collapsing. You get to the point where not abusing power is so far from the realm of viable options that you stop even thinking about it as an option, and when you can't even imagine life beyond the cocoon of misery you have spun around yourself, you have been enthralled by power and cannot escape. You are a wraith.
Power is horrifying.
P.S. If by chance there's anyone reading this thinking that they can't imagine a life beyond the mountain of abuses and bad decisions their life has become, that they have become a wraith and are beyond hope: I think you give yourself too little credit. Wraiths can never consider the idea that they are wraiths. If you can as the question "Am I beyond hope?", the answer is "I am not beyond hope." It's not easy; you will have to do a lot of work and you will probably need to ask for help along the way. It's not fun. It's work. It's worth doing, but you have to actually do it and not just imagine doing it for it to get done.
It's a self selecting position. Political positions reward the cutthroats, the ones who will make backroom deals and compromise their morals.
Kind and considerate people are rarely in power, and never for long. You will be replaced if you don't "play the game".
In the Lord of the Rings example, looking exclusively at humans here, only the lords were allowed to wear the rings of power. Hobbits and peasants were not given rings. Even the country town's seventh prince, who would have made the ideal king, was not given a ring. Only the people already at the top, who already had to fight their brothers and sisters for succession of the throne, who were used to political games and dealing with the devil, got the rings. Of course they became evil; evil was already within them.
"Don't try to tell me how some power can corrupt a person
You haven't had enough to know what it's like
You're only angry 'cause you wish you were in my position
Now nod your head because you know that I'm right, all right?"
Trent said it with a little more whimsy.
Rich people are a blight upon the earth. They have destroyed the earth and deserve no sympathy.
"When it is our turn , there will be no excuses for our terror."
Saw a small documentary about it (even if it wouldn't surprize me that much). Apparently no actual evidences found, and that only served to divert attention from the crimes that were actually committed by the army against civilians.
The Wikipedia article is well sourced, and the multiple investigations managed to name both individuals and right-wing groups.
Maybe the better question to ask is who funded the documentary that says no evidence was ever found, because clearly some was, enough to fuel multiple international investigations.
Exactly, this is an urban legend and I hate seeing it being presented as facts in this post.
I remember writing an essay in school about the war while it was happening. This was pre-internet so our sources were newspapers. The reports from locals and refugees always mentioned the snipers as the worst thing. Civilians were shot down at random. It's impossible to tell if any particular shot was part of the war or just someone taking the opportunity to shoot down somebody they didn't like for whatever reason in the first place. There was no real front line, where you could say that the war was fought. It was entire cities all over the country going crazy and just killing their neighbours.
I wouldn't be surprised about the human-safari being a real thing, but it would've been pretty fucking dangerous to do, considering that the entire place was already covered with snipers from both sides of the war.
The more time goes on the more we find out how rich people are truly the definition of evil.
It goes far beyond just rich people. I think it’s unfortunately a rather large chunk of humanity in general. The rich just have the means to make it happen and get away with it.
I grew up dirt poor, and there was no shortage of poor people beating their kids, molesting kids, beating their spouses, killing their spouses, or beating or killing others. It was the norm.
They’d just end up in jail more often.
The reason why only rich people do shit like this is that it takes money to do it.
Poor people have to enlist in the military for the opportunity. Not saying that everyone in the military signed up for this reason, but the amount of people that did is definitely higher that zero.
Yep but you also get a chance to get shot when you're poor. And you don't get to go home when you're done.
I think it is still happening. Remember those boats we shot for no reason?
The US did that pro bono. Or bonner, not sure which
Isn't that a recent accusation that it's still being investigated?
Sarajevo Safari is the name for an alleged war tourism
So it's not proven that happened.
It says a lot of allegations and anonymous sources but very little real evidence.
Gee, I wonder what country is absolutely doing that now.
Oh yeah, and rich people that need organs, where do you think they get them from?
Welp, that’s enough fucking internet today
And I'm sure they all went to prison later... Right? Right?!
Italian investigators dragged their feet for 30 years, now the killers are all dead.
Yeah, I remember the movie “Hostel”.
Very important context that supports this is: during the war in Bosnia a lot of the fighters on the serb side were career criminals from the western Europe returning home to join the fight. So they definitly had connections with potential clients.
This is why cameras are importent, much harder to get away with shit like this, who know how many times things like this happened and people got away with it completely.
This was filmed in the 90s you can watch videos of people running across the street being shot at
