[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 hours ago

Like half the people here missing it lmao

[–] vegafjord@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Ed Sharon is a neutrality extremist.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

hes only neutral because hes has performed at one of krafts personal events, hes his sugar daddy. he cares more about the money.

[–] vegafjord@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 hour ago

who can blame him, neutrality is good for the wallet.

Eww no I will not fuck them, they can get fucked though.

[–] neon_nova@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

What's the deal with Ed Sheeran? I keep hearing people hating on him the past day or two but I have not seen any reason why.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 19 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

The venues hosting his tours kicked Macklemore out for supporting Palestine. He wouldn't take a stand and all of his supporting bands, including his backing band quit.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 4 hours ago

its none other robert kraft, an EPSTEIN associate, plus ED has performed for KRAFT before.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 6 hours ago

His own band quit?

That's hilarious.

[–] mantricx@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Yeah like he didn’t even need to announce support for Palestine or anything. Just needed to say “don’t kick out my fellow speech artists for their speech”.

[–] BigDiction@lemmy.world 25 points 14 hours ago

Dropped his ass from our wedding reception playlist 5 years ago!

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (6 children)

Gonna say a pretty popular opinion on here and get down voted to hell, but I don't care about fake interest points.

While I do agree with the general sentiment on here, I get incredibly tired of this mob mentality. It's like if you have any minority opinion you're treated like some evil piece of shit.

Yeah, I don't agree with Ed Sheeran, but Jesus Christ he doesn't need to be black listed into oblivion because of one unpopular opinion. Does anyone even know WHY he has that opinion? I doubt there's a single person on here who doesn't have some unpopular opinion about something, and if you don't, you are full of shit and just parroting the most popular opinions around you so you fit in.

[–] Thor_Whale@lemmus.org 2 points 3 hours ago

Well maybe he can let trump use his music instead of the village people. Seeing those two like killing children who have nothing to do with geo politics

[–] Objection@lemmy.ml 23 points 9 hours ago

black listed into oblivion

Meanwhile, the one who actually got blacklisted was Macklemore, while Ed Sheeran has a whole tour ahead of him.

If people don't want to go to his tours because of his shitty behavior, tough shit.

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 13 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

if you have any minority opinion

I dare you to come up with a version of this where someone got canceled for "any minority opinion."

Supporting a genocidal regime isn't just "any" opinion, it's a pretty fuckin' big one.

Yeah, I don't agree with Ed Sheeran, but Jesus Christ he doesn't need to be black listed into oblivion because of one unpopular opinio

...has Sheeran been blacklisted? It sure sounds like everyone with actual power is fully supportive of him.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 8 points 9 hours ago

I don't think it's about popularity of opinions. Popularity of opinions vary with context, Sheeran would have received an ovation if he did that shit in Israel, but that's not it. I'm tired of the mob mentality too. Nevertheless, the issue is moral, and in this case, ethical. Even ethics change with context, but on things like genocide, it is pretty much universal. It's not even about his opinions about Gaza, it's about him revealing this network of people and entities that simply do not think a genocide is happening, because they don't think Israel is killing actual people, actual children.

Whatever happens with Sheeran, as long as it's legal, I don't care. I don't want him killed, but rescinding contracts is legal. Also, I didn't care about him before, now I think he is a coward.

[–] stumu415@lemmy.zip 2 points 8 hours ago

I couldn't agree with you more. I posted a similar comment on the music post about this and boy oh boy, it was an avalanche of downvotes and I was supporting genocide.

To me the whole thing is blown way out of proportion and that was my point. Nothing to do with the issue itself, just to the strong overreaction, fed now by the media and bots.

Can I please say, why are we, the proletariat, even giving this controversy attention?

We all watched how the Epstein files were released and not a single person is facing actual punishment from it.

Macklemore is an opening act and is not why people were buying tickets for this tour. (Was he relevant? Did people really pay for this tour because of him? Now he's got attention from Palestine sympathizers who might give him actual attention his next album).

America is by and large apathetic to Gaza or doesn't even know the conflict exists. Half of us don't know what exists outside of our own communities.

Macklemore gets a pat on the back for saying "what's right.", Sheeran gets a boost in ticket sales because now his tour over multiple stadiums, is plastered on the front page of every news aggregator. Live Nation makes bank off of everyone involved here.

And Robert Kraft is probably cackling to the bank about how we are all eating out of the palm of his boss's hands.

With no one going after him, only Sheeran, the elite win again.

For all I know, Macklemore and Sheeran were both powerless to their actual opinions on any of this.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 11 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Is Pink on the same tour? What was her involvement in genocide support?

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 34 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Had to look it up. She's Jewish and has that mistaken belief that the Israeli government = all Jews everywhere.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 6 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Legit question, why the fuck do people seem to think government = a people? Like I fucken hate the English government, aristocracy, and royalty to the point I want to purge it but that doesn't mean I want to exterminate the English as a whole. Is this a side effect of nation states? Or is it moreso a result of Israel in particular? Because I feel like I had folks accuse me of racism over hating certain governments and countries before namely N Korea, S Korea, and Russia but I don't know if thats dishonesty or not.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 hours ago

Israel has a few factors that intensify this particular effect. Their government playing into it constantly is certainly part of it. Also, Jewish people made up notable minorities in many countries, but majorities in zero, between about 586 BCE and 1948 CE. The insular nature of those minority communities made them an easy scapegoat for a lot of groups for those ~2500 years, so a lot of cultural significance was put into the perceived need to be a majority somewhere. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't want to get rid of the boot, they just want to be the ones wearing it.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

Conservatives and authoritarians are simple minded.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 18 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Another genocidal zionist.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago

That's sad. I thought she wasn't one of the bad ones
