A Republican asked, when Patel said both sides, "you mean the animal? " Patel give a small smile and said something to the effect of no, we got some great canines. Patel goes on to say there's victims of sexual trafficking forced into bestiality and candidates have been automatically disqualified even though they are victims, but we all know it's cause they're letting in weirdos and sexual predators that are like minded and loyal to the regime.

I'm constantly amazed how many foreigners are aware of what's going on in US politics and even details about how our government works.
It shows how much our shitty politics affect the world. I'm sorry.
It highlights how bad Americans are at paying attention and doing their homework because most Americans have no fucking clue what's going on or how their own government works.
To be fair, I'm barely aware of what's going on in other nation's politics, but that's largely because I'm hyper aware of what's going on in U.S. politics and, unfortunately, that takes up a lot of my time and patience and sanity.
Honestly, I know more about US politics than about my own country because I spend more time on Lemmy than reading newspapers. And any time on Lemmy automatically exposes you to US news day in day out
That's by design. It's the same reason you aren't required to take Statistics in high school. If people knew the actual odds of winning the lottery they wouldn't play. Since the poorest Americans and typically only high school graduates play the lottery religiously it make sense.
I don't think it's just not knowing their rights and such. It also needs to get worse before it gets better. Ever maybe change in government across history wasn't done with protests or signing petitions. It was done with a physical revolution. Until we got that point it will be the same shit.
The 68's movement, MLK, German unification come to mind. What they, however, had in common was that violence was on the table or at least a plausible development. Those in power just figured that gunning down citizens wouldn't be in their best long term interest.
Thinking about how there's gotta be some dogfucker out there going, "Hell yeah I voted for this!" and how he probably has one of the most coherent and internally consistent reasons for voting Republican out of anyone who did.
Fucking dogs is inherently non-consensual (no matter how sexy they are) so it's rape and we don't usually talk about rapists loving their victims.

I read somewhere that the same provision that forbade bestiality also disqualifies people who have been found to have paid for sex three or more times in the last ten years. I think that what's actually happening is that Patel, or a buddy of his, got caught hiring prostitutes a few too many times, and now want to repeal the rule so they don't get kicked out.
But someone saw 'bestiality' and decided to make it about that to distract people.
Then they could have removed the prostitution clause and kept the bestiality one.
Also he literally defended removing the latter in front of Congress.

Her dog was "annoying", the crazy part isn't even that she shot her dog. It was was that she willingly told the story as her having the guts to do what she "needed to do"
That's Kristi Noem, a Republican who wrote in her autobiography about how she shot her dog after failing to train it and claimed it showed she was capable of doing "dirty, messy, and ugly" things in politics too.
This is likely gonna appear in south america (the show not the continent), it's basically a free goal.

Great news for me! I was ready to congratulate all the people I know who have committed acts of bestiality, even set aside a couple hours on my calendar for it. Didn't need even a moment of that two hour block because I don't know a single person who's ever done that sort of thing.

Kristi Noem, on the left, is the former Director of Homeland Security. She was behind a lot of the ICE bullshit, and was fired by Trump a few months back. She bragged in her book that she shot and killed her dog because she couldn't train it.
Kash Patel, on the left, is the current FBI Director. He's terrible in every way. But the current news on him is about him changes in the FBI hiring process that include removal of automatic disqualification of those who had previously stolen from their employers or engaged in prostitution or beastiality.
