Total users are huge now.
There are many websites out there that pull data from the fediverse. So take that with a grain of salt. But anecdotally I am seeing a small rise in people using the various platforms as each get more mature and servers somewhat stabilize.

I'm fairly new myself and in the last week I've noticed quite a few new users. Not a ton but a lot more than when I joined months ago.

Whenever I feel bad about my lot in life, I always remember that at least I'm not a reddit mod.
I joined Lemmy, like 3 years ago I think. But I didn't start being active until this year. I think there is a lot of people like me, especially now that you have to log in to see old reddit. https://old.lemmy.world/ really tipped me over the edge in to being a regular.
Leaving Reddit wasn't easy. I read the tea leaves and left at apigate.
I had already eschewed Youtube API and was keeping Facebook out of arms length,
I poked around Bluesky for a while, it had a very strong pull.
I do not need machine-fed unlimited social media and news I don't thrive on it. Doomscrolling is not a good hobby.
I've definitely noticed my shitpost comments get a lot more engagement than they used to, so that's fun
Nope. It seems it is a sicker Reddit. No matter the congenitalilty, the engagement is just frankly gross.
Maybe I need to move from lemmy.zip, but the vetting is a pain in the ass.

I am actually a really sweet but sardonic guy. No freedom of speech and no humor. Just an exasperation of the things that killed reddit.

It's not about socialism. Most people on Reddit and crybabies and the Fediverse seems to have inherited that culture.
Is that why I feel so at home here? Am I a socialist!? Did Lemmy make me a socialist! Oh no, what am I going to tell my mother when sh3 finds out.

lemmy.zip imo is notoriously shit. It was one of the first communities I blocked when I joined the fediverse.
note that this is accounts. So for example, I have 3 accounts I use regularily.

They've really managed to enshittify the site beyond even what I expected back when the API changes went live. I guess it was expected. First Digg shot itself, now Reddit...
Reddit is an AI dumpster fire. There are still decent communities, but the glory days are behind it (the 20teens). Reddit circa 2012-15' was peak. Now it's an AI slop infested milquetoast facebook alternative. Damn shame. Hopefully the user base will finally realize the ship has sailed straight up it's own corporate butthole, and seek alternatives, such as this one.
