Honestly, dude needs to watch his mouth. Not a furry myself, but from what I've seen, like 80% of the infrastructure for, y'know, the ENTIRE FUCKING PLANET'S ECONOMY, appears to be furry run or furry adjacent. It's a super popular community among techy types, and it's completely harmless. I'd be genuinely concerned about pissing off the only community that might actually be capable of organizing a general strike.

Also, to my furry amigues... General strike... Just consider it...

Do not. Fuck. With us.

[–] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 16 points 5 hours ago

I mean, if it would keep unhinged conservatives off planes and out of airports, I'm onboard with pushing this propaganda.

In your title, “One in every” is missing any sort of numerical entry to finish the clause, but your title is also highly misleading because all he really said was that there are a lot of them. Unless you’ve got some context that wasn’t in the article.

Supposedly this is the quote

Listen to this. Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. Lord help us. It's terrifying when you think about this. When you walk onto a commercial flight, it's possible that the pilot of your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal.

So what if they do? How does that have anything to do with flying an airplane?

Meanwhile, their Secretary of War has his body covered in Crusader tatoos and is very likely hoping to call Jesus down to Earth by nuking the middle east.

But the real problem is the guy masturbating in their tiger costume.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Honestly they didnt even allude to masturbation, just the act of being a furry is enough to disgust them.

[–] zakobjoa@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

So what if they do? How does that have anything to do with flying an airplane?

Well, ya can't fly with one hand, for starters.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

I mean, the computer does most of yhe flying doesnt it? Its pretty easy to use a computer one-handed.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 hours ago

You can if you have a tail.

[–] ImgurRefugee114@reddthat.com 25 points 8 hours ago (1 children)
[–] toynbee@piefed.social 3 points 5 hours ago

That was my interpretation.

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago

Yeah the sub rules are it’s supposed to be the original headline anyway

[–] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Maybe they should apply to a more enlightened job, like at the FBI, where banging sheep is ok.

more proof that football coaches are dumb as shit

[–] zabadoh@ani.social 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Any guesses as to the Senator's furry name?

Mimi Muffytubbs?

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Tooby Tommerville the sex ferret.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

You sound like you're an authority on sexy ferrets, dream_weasel! :)

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 hours ago

Actually just a hilariously relevant coincidence. Now I wish I had said "weasel" instead!

But can they become a pilot?

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 5 points 5 hours ago

It’s only a matter of time until some ultra-conservative politician or hate-preacher is caught in flagrante delicto, only not this time helping a rentboy “pray the gay away” but living a double life as a sexually adventurous cheetah or something.

[–] cadekat@pawb.social 24 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

He's probably underestimating that number, honestly. We're kinda everywhere.

That said, I don't actually know any furry pilots outside the military, so...

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Isnt there a huge problem with pilot shortages because the military was their main pipeline and they refuse to support training for new pilots?

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 12 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, I saw the actual headline and my first thought was "What do you mean 'secretly'?" I don't think there's an airforce in the world that isn't 90% queer and furry.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, from what I hear of them we should be surprised the tarmac techs at airpots aren't wearing animal ears and tails :

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Furries keep our planes in the air and the entire Internet running, when they're not making essential medical breakthroughs, and I think it's about time they got the respect they deserve.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

hen they’re not making essential medical breakthroughs

If furries are so good at medical breakthroughs, how come they haven't invented cat ear transplant technology?

Turning Point Anti-fur.

*Gets shot*

I thought the USAF was mostly Christian Dominionist.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 24 points 8 hours ago

GOP projecting again.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 12 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

…and? What other people do doesn’t matter, so long as they aren’t inhibiting others rights.

[–] shartgargle@lemmy.zip 4 points 7 hours ago

Let's look at drug tests before worrying about fetishes.

[–] aburrito@sh.itjust.works 10 points 7 hours ago

OH MY GOD ITS ALL OF THEM

[–] UpAndAtThem@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Ironically, Tommy Tuberville sounds like the name of a sports mascot in a furry suit.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Here is what I picture his fursuit to look like

Auburn's tiger mascot

[–] UpAndAtThem@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Let's go Tuberville Tigers! Whoowhoowhoowhoo!

[–] keimevo@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

I heard the maybe-not-that-highly rambunctious claim that one in every politician is a closeted pedo.

[–] JohnnyEnzyme@piefed.social 5 points 8 hours ago

Eh, he would look ridiculous as a Furry.
Now it's time to blame someone for that fact! :D

Dear Senator: Wishing doesn't make it so. But keep touching yourself and thinking your thoughts.
