Remedy creates works of art imo. Well worth the ticket price to experience what they make.

I’m going to buy it to support awesome devs but also because the first Control is one of the best games I’ve ever played and I desperately need more. Very few games manage to nail it on the story, graphics, and gameplay, and Control hit it out of the park. The whole SCP/Gonzo Lovecraft genre also just doesn’t get enough love, and remedy knows how to get proper fucking weird.
Exactly how I felt playing Control! They hit such a good weird and fascinating beat that I bought Control Resonant immediately, and it’s already cool as fuck.
But I thought Piracy isn't stealing money from the devs?
It isn't. In this case it's actively converting sales since so many people in the scene are recommending you buy the game if you enjoy it because remedy is a pro-consumer developer that makes great games.
I do not have the money to support all of the great studios out there, so therefor i cannot buy all their games. When I download them, this means that they do not lose a sale over it, because i wouldn't be able to buy it anyways - and that is the case with the vast majority of pirates.
A pirated copy is not a lost sale, it is a potential costumer that cannot afford the asked price, and good person-to-person marketing. In total, a pirated copy is worth more than someone not buying the game.
I have a vast library of both paid for and pirated games, and when i have the money, i invest it to make sure game studios that make quality content do get what they deserve from me. Alas, i am not a millionaire (far from it - i do not have debt, but i also don't have a nest egg, living paycheck to paycheck like most common people) - if i had the financial resources, i would only bother with pirated copies to seed them for less fortunate people.
As soon as i have the money to actually pay for the game and the price is at a level where i can allow myself to pay for it, i do it - i want the game studios whose content i consume to survive. But 60€ are a substantial amount of money for me (especially while saving up for a Steam Frame), and i cannot just throw my money after them, regardless of how much they deserve it.
I'm contemplating buying this full price instead of waiting 3 years to buy the ultimate edition on sale as usual. On one hand I'm so excited about this that I have started (re)playing the remedyverse back catalogue. On the other, this is the least polished the game will ever be (not that it sounds like a buggy game) and I won't be able to play the dlc with the game fresh in mind.
Did it with AW2 on PC at release just to support. Then i realized my PC couldnt even run it. No refund, I'll play it when my PC is better. No ragrets
I'm waiting for the next paycheck but it will be one of very few games I pay full price for (assuming reviews are good, I haven't looked yet, but it's Remedy so I'm hopeful)
if I had time to play games I'd pirate it and buy it if I liked it. same as everything else except companies with shitty bigwigs and all the actual devs laid off don't get the purchase step. No special treatment except for assholes. Leaks should be reserved for companies like sony or nintendo
That's how it was for me with Fallout New Vegas. "Got it" on release, partially because I didn't know if it would work on my computer at the time since Dead Rising 2 didn't; long story short having a single core processor when dual cores were being pushed out.
Needs? Games never "needed" to be pirated.
It's kinda like saying "I needed to rob a bank"
Not really. Some games are at risk of being removed entirely due to decisions made by brain dead studios etc - in which case pirating is needed to keep it around.
You have a moral obligation to pirate games from shitty companies, ya bozo
I most certainly do not.
