Hopefully (and I know kts just wishful thinking) a bunch of cunts in the White House and congress in prison, given that the midterms are a month or so away.

[–] GloriousGasHole@piefed.social 3 points 3 hours ago

Hopefully the end. I'm tired.

[–] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

Let's finish Sherman's work! Without conservatives existing, 2027 will bring us peace.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

The prediction I've been making since he got reinstalled is that trump will be out of office one way or another by around March--sometime after the new Congress is sworn in. I should say IF it actually does get sworn in, which is not guaranteed whatsoever--repubs have a trick up their sleeves to use a technicality in the Constitution to refuse to seat them, and if they do, I don't trust SCOTUS to try and stop them or succeed even if they do try.

Others: Canada and the EU will become closer and both will continue to pull away from the US as well as US tech. They'll also start building their militaries up more. Russia/Ukraine and US/Iran wars will drag on. Climate change will continue to be unaddressed by anyone.

The AI bubble will probably burst in 2027 but it may take longer. The longer it takes the worse the economic effects will be.

On the positive side,

The collapse of the Untied States. Or transformation into a dictatorship. The rest of the world continuing to cut ties with the Untied States

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

The Bell Riots. Unfortunately that means we’re also on the wrong side of WW3 timeline wise but hey it’s progress right

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 9 hours ago

oh I don't even want to think about it. I need some of that super fentanyl for my prepper bug out bag.

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

i hope nuclear war.

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

A new plague, more global warning, and more wealth disparity. Continue that every year for the foreseeable future.

[–] Quazatron@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago

The four horsemen is always the correct answer.

[–] AtomicHotSauce@piefed.social 29 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

More pain and agony from fascists.

I'm hopeful that bad things happen to people in power. It probably won't happen, but I'm hopeful

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

A repeat of the 1930s in germany. Conservatives, being desperate to remain in power helping nazis gain power

[–] bigmamoth@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 25 minutes ago)

Unaddressed population concern grow so much that it create a power vacuum that anyone can take ? Yeah it s already hapenning in the UE everywhere but I fail to see the link with nazi. But it s a good thing since it will shake the oligarch etablissment. And hopefully the UE that is so far away from citizen concern and got too much power recently

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 17 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

The Nazis are already in power. Have you heard Steven Miller speak?

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Excuse me old chum but you need to hop on the US-centric train posthaste!

(/s in case necessary, but "silly" not "sarcastic")

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 33 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Earth will level up and we will all awaken the use of mana. With this we will solve the fosil fuels crisis, solve world hunger, unite humanity, create wealth parity and AI will be obsolete. But we will have to sent our earthen warriors to represent us in a battle royal against alliens whose planets also leveled up. If our warriors do well, we will unlock even more mana, but if they do badly, we won't improve our mana capacities.

That or same as the past years, just everything a little bit shittier. I'm hoping for #1 for obvious reasons.

[–] Anachu@leminal.space 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

ah but you must be aware that the awakening of mana in humans will lead to wild animals awakening mana too. this in turn will cause most of the land on our planet to be overrun with beasts, while empowered birds and fish will make travel by boat/plane nearly impossible

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 1 points 30 minutes ago

Yeah, but we can teleport, also some mana users may be able to tame or create artifacts to tame some mana beasts making them essential in everyday life. But yeah, at the start it would be quite a challange, specially the oceans as they are already scary enough without monsters in them.

I wasn't really really going for a certain work or franchise but rather using a very commun trope in Korean comics.

Is Goblinization worth a read?

[–] MaggiWuerze@feddit.org 1 points 5 minutes ago

That's what the event is called in the Shadowrun lore in which people spontaneously started to turn into all sorts of meta humans. I would argue there are Shadowrun novels worth reading, yeah

China invades Taiwan, oligarchs take more away from us, war in Europe.

I’ve been waiting till midterm elections since at least January to start making predictions.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 17 points 21 hours ago

The same since 2010. Stupid people in charge making stupid decisions in favour of the few with money.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 9 points 19 hours ago

Fuck off, no way, it's 1998, 2027 is the distant dystopian future. 😭

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Easily the worst "happy new years" glasses. It's been downhill since 2020 for those.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

2030 will be good too, just not as good. Kinda like going back to eat a recipe you loved as a kid, only to realize that you had it all the time because you were poor

[–] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 1 points 11 hours ago

The tuna casserole of novelty sunglasses.

[–] Monster96@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Aliens. Fake alien invasion brought on by terminators who cause real aliens to come down and help us. It'll be Independence Day for a couple of months, then we'll transition to Star Trek, then eventually Star Wars by the end of the year

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 hours ago

I had the thought recently, people have been wishing for the death of Donald Trump, imagine if the way it finally happens is a hostile alien race kills him on national television and then start massacring the rest of us. It's the only way people won't be happy to see him die

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 9 points 19 hours ago (1 children)
[–] madmantis24@lemmy.wtf 2 points 15 hours ago

We got ourselves an optimist over here!

[–] tquid@sh.itjust.works 6 points 18 hours ago

Climate change-related deaths will go from the current millions to tens of millions

[–] reader@lemmy.zip 11 points 21 hours ago

nothing good

In the US, midterms are just over a month away. New officeholders will take office early next year. As things stand, the Democrats are very probably going to take the House of Representatives and looking more likely than not to take the Senate. Either will give them the power to conduct investigations into Executive Branch activity. I would predict unprecedented use of this power. I'd bet that a lot of Trump administration figures are going to be spending most of the next two years sitting in front of Congress being grilled and with the Executive turning over information on its activities to Congress, some which will probably wind up in the press.

[–] AskewLord@piefed.social 11 points 18 hours ago

Democrats will take congress but they won't do anything with their power. They never have, why would it be any different this time?

[–] zip@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 20 hours ago

I sure hope you're right; although I unfortunately don't expect things to go that way... I don't have much hope or faith left. :(

[–] dmtalon@lemmy.world 10 points 20 hours ago

Let's pretend this isn't a sure thing and get out any vote assuming team red is going to come out in droves!

[–] Tja@programming.dev 4 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Best case scenario it will stop most of the damage, but with veto power from the white house, nothing will get fixed.

[–] queerlilhayseed@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

When you're bleeding out, the first step is to staunch the wound. You still have to do the other steps, but you gotta do the first step first.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 1 points 7 minutes ago

Yes I agree.

[–] soyslurper2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 21 hours ago

Food crisis 😔

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

In the US it depends on what happens in the midterms.
