Several Danish companies have received a letter from the US Embassy demanding that they sign a statement confirming they do not have any pro-diversity policies which potentially clash with a recently-issued executive order.

I'm so confused. Why does this US administration believe their policies apply outside of their country?

Short answer: because their God wills it.

Longer answer: they are not applying their policies on Danish companies, but on US embassies and US federal agencies. The US administration has no power over Danish companies, but forbids it's embassies and agencies to deal with companies that do not uphold the moral princioles of the Trump regime.

Actually, the EU is doing the same with the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, just with another policy (upholding basic human rights) and on a far larger scale — encompassing not only embassies and EU—agencies but all European companies.
