Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Software freedom: turns out we can choose our future anytime we want.

"This is the future and if it fails I stand to lose billions so you definitely don't want to be left behind, do you?"

[–] Kintarian@lemmy.world 19 points 23 hours ago

If this is the future, yes, please leave me behind.

At least VR is great for porn

I tried it once, in the early times. They hadn't figured out the scaling at all. Lady was supposed to come sit in your face.

She didn't get closer, she got bigger. Much bigger.

Would be phenomenal for the giantess crowd. Scared me off for life.

Edit : nobody press the arrows now leave it there

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago

That sounds just horrible. Where is that, so I can avoid it at all costs?

[–] multifariace@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why is that point of view so rare in porn. It should be among most popular.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 16 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

Because they're too busy making everything stepsomething

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 15 points 23 hours ago

It’s gotten better since then. Close ups still are a bit awkward but the scaling is much better.

VR is cool and the new meta glasses that are basically a vr headset in a glasses form factor is the direction that will make it far better. Too bad it’s all ruined because it’s a meta product and they insist you have an account for what is undoubtedly the most aggressive data collection in the entire world

Meta are dragging more open competitors along with them though, and showing that a market exists (but not the 80bn Metaverse Zuck promised).

Poker in VR is social and fun. The rhythm games like Beat Saber and Pistol whip are pretty cool too.

This meme isn't a jab at VR or any other single technology, VR is a good piece of tech. But its still one of those technologies that were way overhyped by tech bro billionaires.

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 5 points 23 hours ago

Like remember how that big tech company renamed itself in hopes of making its name ubiquitous with a VR world that no one really wants other than those who thought they could make boatloads of money from it?

And I'm not saying that they are the only ones that want any VR world, I mean specially the one they were trying to build where they pretty much started with virtual real estate and ad space before even coming up with compelling reasons to use it at all. Also, the virtual reality that I'm really interested in isn't the one where you strap screens to your face and have cameras or sensors detecting movement of specific hardware to act as input, but that's all we have right now.

Lol I just realized this: I'm more interested in the Sword Art Online VR world that would kill you in real life if you died in the game than I am in whatever FB was trying to make. Like if a genie or something offered me the choice between trying either of those, the metaverse would be a quick no while trying a nervegear would require some thought.

Though not whatever comes out of Musk's company. I have little doubt that he's going to have at least some people working on hacking human brains, for things like mind control, finding secrets, or maybe even doing that thing where they make it look like you leave the simulated VR world but it actually just simulated taking a VR helmet off and now you're stuck in Elon's world until he lets you out or it breaks.

I'm so happy I haven't heard the term Blockchain in a while connected to the next amazing technology. I'll be happy when LLM goes that way too.

[–] zurohki@aussie.zone 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Blockchain is a really interesting technology that has almost no actual use cases, which is kind of amazing in its own way.

Block chain for LLMs.

Half wondering if I could just make a website and get VC funding for just the idea.

[–] morto@piefed.social 16 points 1 day ago

Cloud-based multiverse virtual reality with agentic, llm-based, personas. All that using generative graphics and integrated into a blockchain.

You need to dream bigger, my friend, or the dumb billionaires won't fill you with money

[–] Jolteon@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That probably won't happen. Unlike Blockchain, which really only has a few niche uses, LLMs are incredibly useful for natural language processing and machine translation, both of which are fairly large fields.

Also add 3D TVs to recent technology that didn't go anywhere.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

recent

Should I tell them, or...?
