Jones is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on October 20 and, according to the Independent, could face a maximum 21 years in prison if she is convicted.

WHAT? 21 years just for pretending to be a teacher and hurling some slurs? Even murderers often get less.

Jeffrey E. Likely had less and actually harmed kids.

Slightly off-topic, but Epstein actually was a high school teacher, back in 1974 when he was 21. He taught high school kids math at the Dalton School in Manhattan, hired by the guy that ran it, Donald Barr, despite Epstein's lack of a college degree. (Donald Barr was the father of Bill Barr, the US Attorney General under Trump 1.0, and also the author of a science fiction novel about a planet ruled by oligarchs who engage in child sex slavery. You can't make it up.)

But Epstein only lasted the first academic year. His behavior was so sketchy that they were about to fire him at Dalton, when one of his student's parents got him a new gig at Bear Stearns. I have never run across anything substantive on the specifics of why he was in trouble at Dalton, just rumors of non-professional behavior and too much attention paid to specific female students.

23? She's a kid herself ffs!

Substitute teacher story: at my high school, a sub teacher called Mrs. West (who every student agreed was the Wicked Bitch of the West, absolute cunt of an old woman) got fired for telling a black student, "my grandparents owned your great grandparents." I don't remember if that kid was acting up or not, it was horrible, but we were glad to see her go.

Sounds like she was hurling racial slurs and segregating them.

One time in fourth grade, we had a new substitute that had a system for how mad she was. Lik, y'know. She came in as a teddy bear, she said. The more mad she got, she went up in bears. So over the course of the day, she gradually went up her scale because we were rowdy, I guess, however this went down, this was a million years ago, but she became a koala then brown then black. This spurred a discussion about how black bears are usually smaller and more docile, leading to a debate, which was a mistake, questioning this woman's bear knowledge. Thus, she reached her grizzly state and slammed a textbook on the overhead projector, breaking it. We never had that substitute teacher again, but in fifth grade we got this regular sub that had alligators.

...at least she didn't go full polar bear.

That's the equivalent of going super saiyin to her species of teacher

I don’t support anyone doing anything like this, it’s pathetic and unhinged, not to mention just fucking weird.

That being said, I get it.

[–] krashmo@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't get it. If you're that annoyed by kids then why would you intentionally put yourself in a room with a bunch of them? I don't like loud kids either but that's exactly why I'm not a teacher or pretending to be one.

I'm going to walk into my organisation and pose as an executive and cuss out everyone there. Thanks for the idea.
