Best they can do is shrug and say "well, I didn't vote for him"

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (3 children)

So odd how every single time there's US election, this sentiment comes out like clockwork.

"Better blame the people that knew better, they're the exact same as those that sponsored this unhinged bullshit"

Let's pretend to take the high ground while generalizing

Please do enlighten us and say what you would do.

[–] TheFeatureCreature@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Something? Literally anything at all? At the absolute bare-minium... not electing a convicted felon and child rapist to the highest office twice? The DeFlock movement has more teeth than the pushback against Trump does. You want a good idea of what you could start doing to push back against GOP fascism then there is a place to start.

I live in a country that the Trump regime is currently engaged in hostile actions against, including credible threats of physical invasion. Forgive me for being harsh here, but it's not my job to fix the US's shit nor is it the job of anyone else that the US is/has been fucking with. I'm having to have conversations with my friends and family about the impact the US trade war has had on their jobs and our economy and what we're going to do if that fascist shitstain actually invades us. I cannot put into words how frustrating it is to constantly deal with Americans that have done absolutely nothing to prevent this outcome while apologising for Trump's actions like he's a poodle that dumped on our lawn. Even worse when these empty apologies come from people that admitted that they don't vote.

Do better. Fix your shit; it's not our job to do it for you. We have enough issues going on here at home that we're dealing without without having to teach Americans about how their own system works while their boot is on our necks.

These are the same.

That said, you're not going to gain any sympathy or legitimately help with this shit, so I don't know what your end goal is. I get that you're upset and it's easy to throw stones, but it's almost an impossibility we fix this in house. We have more military bases that are permanent fixtures in other countries than we have states and we have way too fucking many of those too. Fascism isn't an us problem, it's an everyone problem. The apparatus that they've used to dominate the planet and pillage is now being pointed inward, but this time it has a camera in a every neighborhood.

CA has a long history of helping us gain this amount of global influence and power as well, and this didn't happen in a vacuum.

Long story short, you're preaching to the choir on this platform, and same team. This isn't helping.

Well, to start, all the rich left winger hollywood sorts should be funneling their absurd wealth into programs and initiatives that counter the authoritarian fascist agenda. Oh, no, those people, like Leonardo Di Caprio, are too busy preaching to us about green/progressive values, while slutting around with 25 yo models on private 'carbon-footprints go brrrrrrr' yachts in the Mediterranean, and or funneling their money into pro-Israel/genocide denial/PR spin efforts, etc. The notion that the right wing has all the money is strange, its more that the progressives just dont want to contribute / back up their words with actions. And, what goes for those hollywood showboaters, goes for a large majority of Americans who come online and whine about it not being their fault.

And it goes triple for the democratic leaders, who are either too limpwristed/ineffectual to be able to accomplish anything significant, or are quietly complicit/encouraging the same general agenda -- implying that, based on your democratic process, the agenda isn't a "wedge issue" between the two sides of the country, but they're all basically in lock step. Afterall, some democratic politicians have said they favour the tariff approach, but they'd be 'nicer' in the language as they tried to fuck all America's allies over -- and it's highly unlikely that they'll do much to reverse the damage Trump is causing on that front.

And yes, if there's no representation / your government's gone rogue, the assumption from the rest of the world is that the American people would nut up and solve it with Violence. Because news-flash, that's the image America has branded itself as historically -- and they're increasingly showing that they only understand the threat/use of violence on the world stage in terms of international relations.

As opposed to what? Overthrowing the most powerful empire on earth?

Kids these days, just lazy, am I right?

[–] Frostible@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i swear ever since i was born into bush the goalposts just keep moving and all the adults seem to do is blame the kids, instead of taking any of that accountability for themselves like they greedily do with everything else

Trump also raped children.

[–] iamthetot@piefed.ca 6 points 1 week ago

Don't be ridiculous. You cannot prove that he doesn't still rape children.

Lol, the sludge the russian refineries are producing nowadays would absolutely fuck up any recent US car; even the cars in Russia currently have a shockingly high frequency of garage trips. If you are lucky, you only have to swap out the fuel filter, if you are unlucky, your engine becomes a chunk of scrap metal. There are videos of people pulling slimy chunks of whatever the fuck that stuff is out of their fuel.

And what Diesel exactly does Putin want to export? Only probable way i can currently imagine is transporting crude to India and the refined Diesel from there to the US. Russia is currently a net Diesel IMPORTER.

Btw, there is no guarantee Russian crude or Diesel ever makes it to the US, and that is something that even the US can't prevent. UA is very adapt at transmuting russian tankers into pillars of flame and smoke nowadays.

Most credible Russian emissions control

Most credible Russian emissions control, it's not just the Kuznetsov!

That swimming transgression against air quality is gone at least, and the Ukrainians are funnily not the cause, it was all self inflicted.

  • first, the refit was delayed for years
  • then, the largest floating drydock they had sank because of an power outage, smashing a 19m² hole into the boat with a 70 ton crane
  • while they tried to fix this damage and upgrade the systems, a large fire broke out that caused 8 times the amount of financial damage the crane caused
  • and then they took the 1500 crewmen and sent them to the frontline

There are currently no plans to reactivate this abomination

Late Edit: And this is the reason why OSHA and comparable institutions are important. This chain of events could have never happened in a country that takes workplace safety serious.

[–] mobyduck648@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah I wasn't aware she'd been decommissioned, Poseidon himself has finally got fed up with the Russian Navy smoking in his house!

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

She hasn't been decommissioned officially yet, but there also aren't any plans to get it working again because of the exorbitant costs for that. Add to that the problems of getting parts to bring her to a somewhat recent standard, and the only future i see for this thing is trading its scrap value for some Pepsi. Edit: which would be the second time Pepsi had a military navy - i am totally for that happening again!

Donald does not think long-term, and he certainly doesn't give a crap how this affects consumers, provided the negative effects don't manifest close enough to the election to make his prospects worse. He and his candidates are going to get their asses kicked in November, though.

If Ukraine hits those ships, Trump will say Zelensky attacked the US and seize all support. He is looking for an opportunity to finally align with his favorite Tsar

Russia's literally got lines for fuel, Trump's just lying about the fuel coming into the US after G7 released its' reserves to make Putin look good.

[–] testaccount372920@piefed.zip 38 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The way I see it, Putin managed to convince Trump to put himself in a position where he has to pressure Ukraine into stopping attacks on Russian refineries. This is a straight up win for Putin.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 15 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah, but there is no fucking way UA will stop their attacks, because it is the most viable way of bringing russia to its knees.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I can see the "USA has to stop Ukraine from its attacks on America's vital gas supply" headlines already.

Here is my running theory:

Trump attacked Iran to create a fuel crisis to give him an excuse to end Russian oil sanctions

Trump is a Russian asset, which makes US are serfs for Russia

Trump blew bubba

Putin isn’t Bubba, he’s another person Trump blew

Trump is closeted bisexual and got into it with dudes at Epstein parties

Epstein was one of the master of ceremonies for the secret society that controls all of us

People are starting to notice The Society

The Society is building AI in a last ditch effort to preserve their lifestyles at our expense

All while "Russia to hunt Ukrainian civilians with drones": https://lemmy.ca/post/72132843

Buying diesel now kills Ukrainians, and trump boasts about it, livestreams executions, and calls people who correctly say "artificial intelligence" his "enemies". The djt strategy appears to be to sucker punch everyone in an attempt to escape his own personal troubles.

It’s a bullshit publicity scam. The amount of oil amounts to 15 minutes of diesel. It shows his allegiance to Putin.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 4 points 1 week ago

It's more accurately 14 hours of US diesel consumption. This will not change the price at the pump outside of a fraction of a cent.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

coincidence it’s what https://giftforputin.com/ was called before weapons to ukraine

the question i have is how much diesel does russia have spare

How are they going to get it to the US? Ukraine isn't going to let that diesel ship from the Azov and Ukraine can destroy any pipeline that moves it to the east for shipping.

After the US Russia deal to help the mid term elections, there is a call for a new president! Bizarrely it is Demented Don calling for Zelensky to step down. https://www.smh.com.au/world/north-america/time-for-a-new-president-trump-calls-on-zelensky-to-go-amid-diesel-stoush-20261011-p614g5.html
