Im tired of not knowing what kind of specs I have on a different machine im using so I want to generate complete spec reports I can then look up.

I can do it manually its not that much work, but am wondering if anybody knows a way there is some cool piece of software that maybe also outputs it in a standardized way, if that's even a thing. So Ill hopefully only have to do it once.

I was looking for something more thorough than fastfetch. It does not give me the mainboard and attached disks for example.

Try

fastfetch --config all (will not print everything though, despite its name)

fastfetch --list-modules (lists modules you can add to your config)

fastfetch --structure board:physicaldisk (shows motherboard and disks only)

etc

I use lspci on linux. The effort of finding what I want in the wall of text is proportional to how often I need to lookb up exactly what I've got

I usually just use fastfetch or the steam hardware report

Yes, I think every OS has command that does this. This is easily searchable information, but if you want to want to wait for someone to tell you, maybe let us know what OS you want the command for.

Linux, but ideally cross platform as I have everything in use. I probably end up having to write everything manually down, but was wondering if there is a proper way of doing that which gives me everything in a proper format so I only have to do it once.

I hope someone has an answer for you soon.
