Mildly Interesting

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.

the instrument so weird that even the country that has been using them for hundreds of years still goes "oh yeah right those weirdass fuckin things exist, wack"

Tuning that thing must be a pain.

Still better than a harp or piano, at least.

Extrapolating from guitar.

Yeah, looking closer, it seems like tuning this instrument would have nothing to do with all those little buttons, it's just those turning knobs at the head like a guitar. 👍

I so love this instrument. The music more commonly played on it is so beautiful to me.

Do you have the source for this video? I need moar.

Edit to add: not the source, but more covers on ridiculous (in this case, less traditional) instruments): https://youtube.com/shorts/jyKRLqXbvrk

very cool! i wonder how easy it is for pianists to learn

It is primarily played underarm, suspended from the shoulder using a sling, with the bow in the overhanging arm.

It definitely helps to have spider crabs for hands.

That sounded really cool though.
