"majority" could be 51%. 60% is higher. I'll take the more accurate number please.

The median household income of my city is $46k. Mine makes double that. I have $300 to my name until the 30th. Weekly groceries cost $200. I paid off my car and rent my apartment. I pirate all of the games i play and movies/shows we watch. I spend $6 a month on Dropout. Every meal we eat is meal prepped. I have an electric car and drive 30 miles a week. I have no retirement, savings, investments, or assets except my $2000 car and my two $3000 PCs (which i need for work and were partially subsidized by my job). If i had health insurance i wouldn't be able to pay rent.

Im doing everything right and the money doesn't exist. If i was doing what i am now at any other point in time 10-30 years ago, I'd have a retirement fund, $100k in savings and would be able to go to the doctor.

.. or in a different country

A civilised country

My 80 year-old mom is driving for DoorDash, in my car, and has been for two years. My dad did too up until three months before he died, at age 82, when he became too sick to work.

If she doesn't she will be homeless, and that is by bipartisan federal design.

It's no wonder socialists are becoming electable.

[–] UnequalExchange@lemmy.world 1 points 13 hours ago

but will those 'socialists' actuallg substantiate substantial changes?

Hmmm.... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HRNEs8EtNH8&pp=ygUcd29rZSAxIHdhcyBjcmF6eSBiYWRlbXBhbmFkYQ%3D%3D

....Welp I know what the answer to THAT question is.

Only 60% of people are bottoms?

[–] Daxter101@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought we were way more!

[–] brem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

A proper bottom is more powerful, equaling the thrust of two tops. The only thing more powerful than a power bottom is a keystone, which is one liftable person being held (or holding together) the top of an "Eifel Tower".

The pressure generated into a "keystone top" is roughly equal to the thrust generated by 3 "power bottoms".

I did! I have no idea what, but I sure did

Or: the proletariat

[–] sorter_plainview@lemmy.today 24 points 1 day ago (3 children)

In media the focus is only on the top 1%. We peasants are just disposable human labour.

[–] Laggindragon@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Well, they are the ones that own the media so I don't know what you expected.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

The bottom 99%

[–] BooBees@fedinsfw.app 2 points 1 day ago

And that’s how you know it’s actually class warfare and that the bigotry is manufactured and magnified by them to distract attention and resources away from those who would fight against those waging it from the top and outright murderous side.

[–] ChokingHazard@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Somehow more than half those are considered “middle class”

[–] brem@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

"Bottom 60 percent"

Power bottoms generate more force and therefore represent a majority through this function?

[–] TwoTiredMice@feddit.dk 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In 80 years our grandchildren will watch the new Downton Abbey series just with oligarchy instead aristocracy and feel very sorry for us.

I am not familiar with the show, but a quick research shows that it seems like The Gilded Age portrays something similar to Downton Abbey, but it's more some quasi aristocratic class hierarchy.

[–] Ftumch@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I guess the US wasn't a full-on oligarchy in that period, but one could certainly argue it was heading in that direction.

[–] TwoTiredMice@feddit.dk 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Isn't the difference between aristocracy and oligarchy only that oligarchy is a more corrupt version aristocracy? Seems like a blurry line. None the less, both systems seems suck for those not among the elite.

[–] Ftumch@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yes, and I think it's worth noting that the period the show was named after has some striking similarities to the mess we're in today.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

That frankly sounds about right (for a certain definition of "minimum quality of life"), but do you have a source?
