Holy shit, the rise of antisemitism throughout europe and the whole world is sickening.
I am genuinely scared about the world full of hate we're headed into.

Has there actually been a rise in antisemitism, though? A large part of the 'increase' has been anti-Israel sentiments that Israel has been painting as antisemitism.

Considering the comments I see on Twitter, TikTok, and even on YouTube, I would say yes.

Who can tell us what the father is saying?
Everyone here should read up on this. I'm usually not one to go on an antisemitism moral panic, but this is a real and dangerous indicator for where Europe is possibly headed.
I recommend reading "The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine“ by Israeli historian Ilan Pappe. Most Jewish Arabs had no desire to move to the settler colony until religious violence was facilitated by western countries and Zionists after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.
Examples are the Baghdad bombings that aimed at frightening Iraqi Jews or even doing payments per head to the Moroccan king because Jews didn’t want to leave home. They successfully managed to escalate tensions so far that people eventually did move, but European politicians try to frame the Arab world as antisemites when Europeans have committed the worst possible atrocities against Jews including, but also long before the holocaust, whereas the Muslim world was a refuge for Jews. Very sad development.
Let’s hope that people don’t fall for the Zionist propaganda that conflates Judaism with Zionism, although I’m not having too much trust in humanity at this point.
That's bad. They're not Israeli after all; and even then it wouldn't be OK.
However
Commenting on the incident, Noemi Di Segni, the president of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities, said: “If simply being visibly Jewish is enough to provoke such a violent attack – if a family cannot safely move through public spaces in this country – then the legitimisation of hatred and antisemitism has become viral. This is about everyone’s freedom being at risk. Holding on to respect and dignity for every person is the only path that protects us all.”
I'd have expected some, any kind of mention o fthe genocide Israel is propagating. Preferably a distancing, but anything really. And if she did (I suspect this is just an excerpt) I'd have expected The Guardian to include it. For the sake of de-escalating the "current situation".
No, I think that is absolutely not necessary to do. There is no connection between an Italian Jew and the Israeli government.
You don't need to condem Hamas' attacks each time you criticise Israels Actions in gaza, you dont need to condem isreals settlement politics in the west bank each time you condem Hamas' attacks, you don't need to unwind the history of the world, each time you make a statement about the moral standing of an action.
Things are just evil, neutral or good. And it is evil to Harras people at a gas station because they wear kippas. Period.
