(sorry if the post is confusing my english is bad)

well it works like this:

it is a social network (its not really that since it is kinda harder to use) that operates on usb flash drives instead of the internet

it works like this:

there are instances (they are invite only and nobody can see their content unless authorized and they arent public and mostly friend groups like 3 to 7 people)

every member of a instance has their own usb flash drive

and there are Transfer And Upgrade Days:

transfer: is where everyone gives their usb drive to the admin and the drives get merged

upgrade: is where after transfer everyone gets their flash drives from the admin

and it uses standard files in directory structures instead of databases or whatever

but how do i fix those:

how do i not lose drives

how do i not get viruses on my computer

how do i not get burnt out when there are too many video projects to make

(this post does not use any ai of any sort of way)

I wouldnt even try. I'd rather write letters. You can achieve the same thing by putting what you want on the USB drive and on upgrade day you go to your friends house and socialise and if you need to transfer a file or share a funny meme you plug in your USB and do that.

The idea is called a sneakernet. There are a few currently running that I know of, but signup is the trickiest part — you have to know a member of the sneakernet irl to join.

The transfer-and-update gatherings also remind me of kopimism

You're probably not going to like this answer, but using the internet and a database would solve a lot of your problems.

IT is like anything else in life, everything is a tradeoff. You've chosen to use local storage instead of internet storage. That choice has pros and cons. Many of the problems you're encountering are because of the cons of local storage. By attempting to "solve" this problem, you're effectively trying to crowbar functionality from a technology that was never intended to function in that way.

I'm not saying these problems are insurmountable; anything is possible with enough time, money, and effort. But, I do humbly suggest it may be easier to approach the architecture of your project like an engineer; try to stick to the strengths of what you've chosen to work with and avoid its weaknesses, rather than trying to out-engineer them.

okay so does that mean i should stick to that state rather than being a perfectionist

Some people have an odd definition of perfect.

invite only ... unless authorized

Cryptography but it will be hard to achieve.

how do i not lose drives

Human problem.

too many video projects to make

How is relevant?

Last but not least: since you will use cryptography, why bother with USB keys? You can use the internet.

Your "experimental network" is pretty much how everyone shared files before broadband.

I pirated GTA1, using a bicycle and 7 worn floppy disks. The downloaded version was a rar file spread over 17 files. Took me four round-trip, a couple of km each, to finally have a verified copy.

We shared floppy discs on the schoolyard and the magic ARJ incantations to unpack the games
