I hate kids but have a breeding kink, im so thankful I can't get pregnant

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 46 minutes ago

Im old and out of the breeding pool, but I'm staunch anti-natalist when society becomes inhospitable or even hostile to future generations. The US has totally bought the ticket to ride to population implosion.

Although it's not really that bad. Fertility dropped below 1.6, a number that is notable only because MAGA, white Christian nationalism and big capitalism are freaking out about it. But they're still bankrolling manosphere influencers, and their followers are entirely repugnant and inelligible.

Case in point FBI having to inform ICE that the tradwife-minded women interested in them on dating sights actually just want to dox them.

Fertility of 2.1 is replacement, and in normal times, the US rate is still below that and made up by immigration. But that means whites would have to share their society with non-whites. As first and second generation immigrants work hard, commit fewer crimes (than the general public), take harsher jobs and pay their taxes, I guess they make their white-supremacist neighbors feel insecure.

Betas are going to be the next Silent Generations, the low-population gen born during the Great Depression, known to be a sad, cautionary lot with lifelong health problems. I do not envy them their future. And that's even if none of the catastrophic existential risk scenarios manifest in their lifetime.

(We're going to run out of water in their lifetime.)

A vasectomy has the same fun, minus the periods bit.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I am 43 years old I live in a rural town of less than 4000 people. Everybody here is a hard-core Republican needless to say I have to do next to nothing in order to not get anybody pregnant.

*conditions apply

[–] ST33LDI9ITAL@piefed.zip 4 points 4 hours ago

I too would like to help you contribute to declining birth rate and many creampies!

[–] lordziv@lemmy.nz 1 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Serious question: My partner is looking to get one, does it have much of an affect on sex drive generally?

[–] uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 44 minutes ago)

IUDs work mechanically by inhibiting implantation of the zygote in the womb.¹ Contrast, the pill, which prevents contraception with hormones. This means your mood cycle will change less with IUDs

Note that some IUDs include a hormone component. Discuss with your doctor what is your best choice.

This also means complications with IUDs are also mechanical, most commonly unintended eviction. In prior eras, sone IUDS could scrape or puncture the uterus, but their design is vastly improved so its extremely rare.

¹ Yes, this freaks out the anti-abortion-access and anti-contraception-access crowds since they assert personhood at conception. To that, I offer this statistic from the Guttmacher Institute: 75% of all conceptions fail to result in live birth. By far the majority of them are due to failure to implant. Selection is intrinsic to the human reproductive process.

This also means the most populous place in the Christian Cinematic Universe is the Limbo of the innocents, on the fringe of Hell, at 300 billion souls, most of whom never breathed air. Unless Limbo is not cannon, in which case they go to the Hell of the Damned totalling 400 billion souls. Its awkward.

My partner experiences plenty of sex drive with one.

But the first period after she got it lasted weeks.

Then periods became very light. Which was the main draw, to reduce period pain in her case.

[–] lordziv@lemmy.nz 1 points 2 hours ago

That's good!

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 15 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Wife and I got one past her IUD, 11 years old now :). Be careful.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)
[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

So , unlimited creampies with a strong disclaimer

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 16 points 7 hours ago

My usual talk during check ups:

Are you currently sexually active?

Yes.

Are you trying to get pregnant, or any chance of a pregnancy?

No.

What method of contraception are you using?

Sex reassignment surgery.

......

[–] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

That and the lack of periods makes the god awful insertion a thousand times worth it!

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

Til you don't get periods with IUD. Does it just stop? Does the iud somehow stop the cycle?

[–] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

IUDs (hormonal ones) thin out your uterine lining to the point where you get little to no bleeding. You still ovulate and go through a “cycle,” you just don’t bleed.

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago

Supposedly it varies from woman to woman. Mine stopped.

Gemini claims the mechanism is that the low dosage of progesterone prevents the uterine lining build up.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 8 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Hmmm, if I insert it up my butt will I stop farting?

[–] Armpitbagette@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

There's nothing like empirical evidence I would say. Go ahead and try and then please report back.

[–] cdf12345@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Are you currently experiencing bloody farts? Because past recipients report less bleeding.

[–] lemmygarden@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

It has strings attached to it so they might get poopy

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

It would make your burps more smelly.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 40 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

My SIL was on an IUD, like 17 years ago or so. I remember because my nephew is getting his drivers license soon.

(They aren't infallible)

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 12 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Wow she's the .1% of the .1%. When it does fail the vast majority of pregnancies are non-viable ectopic. So your nephew really beat the odds

[–] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 6 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

They can just fall out or migrate too.

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Are you talking about the iud or a child?

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

True, still they are 99.8% to 99.9% effective depending on the kind. Insane odds, since it was so close to insertion there must have been some kind of mistake during insertion

[–] Hanrahan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

there must have been some kind of mistake during insertion

well yes, that's how a kid is made

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 hour ago

Anal is certainly one form of birth control

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 5 points 7 hours ago

Busting out the Lisa Frank! Congrats on surviving insertion because Jesus fucking Christ that shit hurts. I had to have mine taken out because it kept poking me, hope you don't have that issue!

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 26 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

I only had one kid so I'm half assing my contribution.

[–] mig@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Me and my exes first wife had 3 kids with him, so I feel like we're 3 for 3, just replacement population. No growth.

I gave birth once. Would rather never experience that hell again.

[–] Pipas66@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Did you ever feel the urge to have a second one around the time your first became 2 ? According to my colleagues it's super common

[–] SourDragon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

By the time she was two, she's legally wasn't mine anymore, so no
