I too would like to help you contribute to declining birth rate and many creampies!

[–] lordziv@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Serious question: My partner is looking to get one, does it have much of an affect on sex drive generally?

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 2 points 50 minutes ago (1 children)

My partner experiences plenty of sex drive with one.

But the first period after she got it lasted weeks.

Then periods became very light. Which was the main draw, to reduce period pain in her case.

[–] lordziv@lemmy.nz 1 points 12 minutes ago

That's good!

[–] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

That and the lack of periods makes the god awful insertion a thousand times worth it!

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago (2 children)

Til you don't get periods with IUD. Does it just stop? Does the iud somehow stop the cycle?

[–] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 2 points 49 minutes ago

IUDs (hormonal ones) thin out your uterine lining to the point where you get little to no bleeding. You still ovulate and go through a β€œcycle,” you just don’t bleed.

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 0 points 49 minutes ago

Supposedly it varies from woman to woman. Mine stopped.

Gemini claims the mechanism is that the low dosage of progesterone prevents the uterine lining build up.

[–] 4grams@awful.systems 13 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Wife and I got one past her IUD, 11 years old now :). Be careful.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago

Slightly valid humblebrag

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 12 points 5 hours ago

My usual talk during check ups:

Are you currently sexually active?

Yes.

Are you trying to get pregnant, or any chance of a pregnancy?

No.

What method of contraception are you using?

Sex reassignment surgery.

......

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 hours ago (3 children)

Hmmm, if I insert it up my butt will I stop farting?

[–] Armpitbagette@lemmy.zip 1 points 41 minutes ago

There's nothing like empirical evidence I would say. Go ahead and try and then please report back.

[–] lemmygarden@lemmy.today 1 points 51 minutes ago

It has strings attached to it so they might get poopy

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

It would make your burps more smelly.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 hours ago

Busting out the Lisa Frank! Congrats on surviving insertion because Jesus fucking Christ that shit hurts. I had to have mine taken out because it kept poking me, hope you don't have that issue!

My SIL was on an IUD, like 17 years ago or so. I remember because my nephew is getting his drivers license soon.

(They aren't infallible)

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Wow she's the .1% of the .1%. When it does fail the vast majority of pregnancies are non-viable ectopic. So your nephew really beat the odds

[–] StabbingSky@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

They can just fall out or migrate too.

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Are you talking about the iud or a child?

[–] Jax@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 minutes ago
[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago

True, still they are 99.8% to 99.9% effective depending on the kind. Insane odds, since it was so close to insertion there must have been some kind of mistake during insertion

[–] SourDragon@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I gave birth once. Would rather never experience that hell again.

[–] Pipas66@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Did you ever feel the urge to have a second one around the time your first became 2 ? According to my colleagues it's super common

[–] SourDragon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

By the time she was two, she's legally wasn't mine anymore, so no

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 25 points 11 hours ago (3 children)

I only had one kid so I'm half assing my contribution.

[–] mig@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

Me and my exes first wife had 3 kids with him, so I feel like we're 3 for 3, just replacement population. No growth.

[–] BevsDad@lemmy.ca 8 points 11 hours ago

I think you're statistically 60% of the way there?

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 5 points 10 hours ago

Yeah same here and feel similarly, still contributing, just less.

[–] qwertyasdf@lemmy.ml 51 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I paid Β£400 for the snip but save so much not paying a fortune raising children.

Best investment I have ever made.

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 8 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I paid Β£400 for the snip

Why? "Β£" suggests you're in the UK. It's free in the UK, unless you don't want to wait a few months.

[–] HerbalGamer@sh.itjust.works 40 points 9 hours ago

the shears were cheap but he spent a fortune on bandaids

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I thought it's like Β£4k for a bilateral orchiectomy?

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Just snipping the tubes, not yanking the boys out.

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I want the boys yanked out of me.... :(

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 hours ago

Yeah that was kind of outside of the scope of the discussion. It was mainly around a vasectomy to prevent births.

[–] KokusnussRitter@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Wait. No more periods?! Is that an expected side effect of an IUD? :o

[–] TheArtfulLlama@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Yes! They thin out the lining so much that you either have very light or no periods at all. I went through going through super+ tampons in an hour to literally nothing at all (nothing at all, nothing at ALL!)

Love my stupid sexy IUD!

[–] msbigtitsbigthoughts@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, but that only applies to hormonal IUDs, not copper ones.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

That's why you don't buy copper from Ea-nāṣir.

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Commitment to the spelling

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 1 points 25 minutes ago

He was such a fantastic con man that we still know his name four thousand years later. That deserves respect!

[–] fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip 12 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

that really, truly is how it feels after some good oral!

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Unlimited creampies on offer and you're still talking about oral!?

[–] fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

oh like this is the first time I've heard "wherever you want"

it wasn't an immaculate conception that time!
