The fact that a country under attack needs to pay for these kind of things is already insane by itself.

[–] meltedcheese@c.im -1 points 49 minutes ago

@realitaetsverlust @technology It’s true, there is no free lunch.

"Would you like to upgrade to our non-annihilation plan?"

- Corporations in 2026, apparently

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 hours ago

Fuck this absolute cunt who’s the biggest drain on society since Nero.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The president cut service though. Musk does what he is told with prez, his entire fortune is based on government contracts, he would never defy prez, he was clearly asked to take the blame for this, and OP here is misguided to repeat that lie without moderation.

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 1 points 45 minutes ago (1 children)

Putin may have delivered a "that's a nice satellite system, it woukd be a shame if something happened to it" message.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 1 points 7 minutes ago

More like, those are some interesting tapes and evidence of you mr us president fucking children. Be a shame if they got released along with the pictures of your tiny dick, and all that.

Besides, satelite wars are a dangerous game, both the US and russia have them in place in orbit, and both have been making suspicious maneuvers I read. China probably too but idk what they are up to. But once it starts, it will cover the orbit in debris that will make satelite launches much more dicey as even a speck of dust at the speeds involved can break one of these satelites.

I just still cannot believe that happened and just...no one cares.

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

I'm being pedantic, but there are those of who obviously care that this fuck nugget did this.

Nobody who matters cares.

We don't matter :/

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

I thought the same as I typed my comment...

[–] nomoredreaddit@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Apparently the TOS muskrat claimed were violated by Ukraine using starlink for ''offensive'' purposes, were really just TOS for the lower paid service level.

[–] WappleFF27@feddit.online 10 points 3 hours ago

Hope the EU can get their own network up fast, because Elon is Ukraine's enemy, he will always cut off service when they need it most.

[–] Daft_ish@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 hours ago

I know this one, you call up spectrum and you get a year trial.

[–] bad1080@piefed.social 29 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

image "pray i don't alter it any further"...

[–] Jiral@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

That extortion has an end date, hopefully 2030, when the EU's Iris2 gets operational. Until then however Elon can play his nasty game, at least for the higher quality level of the service.

[–] bad1080@piefed.social 1 points 3 hours ago

*fingers crossed

[–] Rezurektme@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I see billboards for Starlink Roam and the tagline is "Roam Anywhere" or something and I'm like "Except for Ukraine, apparently."

[–] tirateimas@lemmy.pt 2 points 2 hours ago

If true, these guys are really disgusting. We will see the day when he falls.

Teslas in a few years:

"We notice that you're in an uncontrolled spin; uncontrolled spins violate Tesla's terms and conditions; your airbags have been deactivated. Upgrade now to the super spender safety plan for a one off payment of $30k to unlock instant airbag activation".

Goddamn this guy can't go one minute without being a complete piece of shit, his death will brighten my day

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

His death with be celebrated all over the world. I imagine it will be second only to Trump's at this point.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

It will be a toss up between him and Putin and Netanyahu.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Starlink fastest growing revenue base is now governments vastly outpacing the growth of their consumer market. It is clear this is the real goal, to weaponize this technology.

[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 47 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (19 children)

The dispute isn't that they're not allowed to use Starlink for murder drones, it's that the murder drone plan is more expensive.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

SpaceX is not actually supposed to even have direct control over Starshield. It uses Starlink infrastructure, but is a military application that is supposed to be under the control of the federal government.

SpaceX shouldn't have the option to pitch different plans.

[–] Mika@piefed.ca 15 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

You do realize that reactive jet shahed interceptors are also using starlink and also hit the speed limit wall?

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 4 hours ago

What does that matter? How fast can a children’s hospital be moving?

The guy that nazi saluted on live broadcast twice did this? Not shocked at all seeing the attrocities the nazis and communists did to the Ukrainian people.

Either someone buy out Starlink, Space X, and Tesla or create a better company would be great in the current timeline.

[–] Zephorah@discuss.online 21 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, because Musk needs more money.

[–] random_character_a@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Of course. He needs to get his building sized exploding metal dicks less explody soon, or his fucked.

[–] Mildly_Damaged_Foreskin@retrofed.com 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

But they literally make them explode for the shits and giggles. They even say so in their schedules lmao

Said by same people who furiously applaud and when shit blows up again.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago

"reportedly"

my ass, try "positively"

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 hours ago

“Sure would be a shame if something were to happen to your service…”

[–] FrogCat@piefed.social 6 points 6 hours ago

It's like running with a bucket of water to a burning man and saying "I'll douse you, but it'll cost you 100 bucks"

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Because Starlink is where most of SpaceX's revenue comes from and it doesn't turn a profit.

[–] Staff@piefed.world 2 points 6 hours ago

After that EU money
