Seems like my next CPU/GPU won’t be AMD. How is Apple doing lately?

If you buy 2ndhand m1 or m2, the fedora Asahi remix works pretty good IRL. No, m3/4/5 are not ready, far from it.

"VP of AI software loves AI slop built dotfiles by a man that would in any other situation demand he leave his country"

A. VP means...jack all in the corporate world and B. I'd wait a little bit before slinging the pitchforks at AMD.

In reality this just proves a point I made last week on mastodon. Users are soon just going to have to make exceptions for what they are willing to use because of this AI crap. it's everywhere now, it's in everything, and pretty much everything we use is slop coded in some form or another. You're now just going to have to decide on what levels of AI bullshit you're willing to accept in your daily computing.

Or we just all start using TempleOS on machines from 20+ years ago.

VP doesn’t mean anything in US financial institutions because it’s a minimum level where someone’s legally allowed to make certain decisions but in companies that manufacture things at scale it’s usually a meaningful indicator of a high ranking position. AMD VPs don’t make it to their leadership webpage but SVPs do.

I’m new. Why do we not like Omarchy?

[–] randomname01@feddit.nl 15 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

It’s headed by a racist, and a suspicious amount of money has been flooding into the project for no discernible reason other than his questionable politics.

Ah, thanks for the heads-up.

There's a whole ass-website that explains why:

This is why I don't like the CPU duopoly...I really hope RISC-V takes off soon! Or at the very least maybe ARM chips from a variety of different brands, I dunno

Damn, i shouldn't have read the comments over there...

I was expecting worse, but I'm still always surprised just how dumb and brainwashed the slop-bros are (while calling everyone else brainwashed) whenever I run into them.

On the wrong side of history there

[–] mumblerfish@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Yeah... Ok, that narrows down the choice for the next machine I suppose

[–] dustyData@lemmy.world 6 points 1 hour ago

Between NVIDIA, Intel and AMD. There's no longer a lesser evil to choose.

OMG, ewwwwww.
