[–] amda@feddit.nl 4 points 4 hours ago

I misread that as "bathroom" and kinda belived it for a second...

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I'm surprised it'll be in the white house and not in mar-a-lago

[–] CheezyWeezle@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

He doesn't plan on moving out

[–] xiwi@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 8 hours ago

Crony capitalism is just capitalism

[–] Kurious84@lemmings.world 10 points 7 hours ago

Shocker. Russia 2.0 in America. Nice job voters.

[–] drdalek@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 9 hours ago

He is planning on never leaving. Or he wouldn't bother. He doesnt do things with foresight unless FOR himself.

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 13 points 9 hours ago

Is it to celebrate the release of the Epstein files?

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 39 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Building an opulent ballroom while making sure millions will lose their homes, go without healthcare, and starve? This sounds like the last days of the French monarchy.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 21 points 10 hours ago

It's actually just a distraction. The real corruption is the 5 trillion in tax cuts for billionaires and the 1 trillion in healthcare cuts for Medicaid to partially for it. If you're talking millions you're being distracted.

  • will be paid for by Trump and unidentified donors

lol like that fat ass will ever pay for anything with his money.

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 19 points 11 hours ago

Unidentified donors, also known as taxpayers.

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

I hope it accidentally burns to the ground

Lib. "Crony capitalism" is not a thing. It's just capitalism. There is no form of capitalism that doesn't involve cronyism, that is just the natural conclusion of private ownership.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 3 points 2 hours ago

I am to please. (unless you are bourgeoisie then I aim to do a different thing but I still aim).

[–] appropriateghost@lemmy.ml 34 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

I agree with you 100%, and Marx was very clear that capitalism is filled with theft and oppression. It's nice that Marx also at times rested his critique of capitalism abstracting all the crony-ness and analyzed capitalism with 'good intentions,' showing that even without the oppression/theft it's a failed system.

edit: misread!

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 15 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 11 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Then why did you call it that lol

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I like to blatantly call it out for those that are still struggling with it. I understand for those like us, it is redundant.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 27 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

That is not only not helpful but actually bad. You're just muddying the waters.

The communists disdain to hide their views and aims

You are doing the opposite of blatantly calling it out you are reinforcing those who may be still struggling to understand in their assumption that this is the "bad" capitalism and leaving open the idea there is some sort of "good" capitalism.

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 26 points 13 hours ago

The scary part about the ballroom is that he wouldn't be building it at the WH if he expected to be out of there in 3 years. He'd be building it at Mar-a-Lago or something.

[–] appropriateghost@lemmy.ml 57 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

He's seriously going full force on the Midas Touch.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 7 points 9 hours ago

Communist January 6ers in the ballroom in 2033:

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 13 hours ago

Need all that room to play hide and rape the kids.

[–] scaredoftrumpwinning@lemmy.world 9 points 11 hours ago

Will there be a plaque saying this ballroom brought to you by the death of sesame Street?

Trump's version of "Let them eat cake."

A real opposition party would be screaming "class divide" from the rooftops, but we all know the Democrats are no more interested in raising class consciousness than the Republicans.

[–] Cat_Daddy@hexbear.net 19 points 13 hours ago

There is no ethical capitalism

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 28 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh, another "look at me, I'm fucking y'all raw and nobody ~~can~~ will stop me"

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

We should. It would be less painful to somehow coordinate everyone to DC than it would be to just live these next three and a half years. I dont want to know what we will be by then at this pace.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago

That's why i crossed "can". I know he can be stopped.

Last time i checked, he's not Invincible ( read it silently, like in the animation opening )

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 30 points 15 hours ago

Aka regular capitalism

[–] groolthedemon@lemmy.world 22 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

One of the new episodes of Gumball has the answer to this. I never thought I'd see a kids show so blatantly just say it... EAT. THE. RICH.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 9 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

I haven't seen any of the episodes in the years. But considering the creator of the show is French. If there ever was going to be one, it would be his lol.

I would think this guy was being so over-the-top cartoonishly evil on purpose just to get us to grow a spine and rise up to overthrow the corrupt government if we were actually growing a spine and rising up to overthrow the government.

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

It won't happen, under Capitalism, they have a large part of the working class, PMC class, walking on a salary vs debt thin edge, too afraid to change anything because their world would fall apart. It is a devious plan and it works, prevents them from grabbing pitchforks, and often even attacking those that are trying to rise up against the oligarchs.

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 11 points 14 hours ago

Between Oz's "Let them not eat cake" and this shit, it's time: I mean, it's only fair gui

[–] KokusnussRitter@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 15 hours ago

Noo, Trump. You forgot that your ~~palace~~ seat of government needs to be outside of the city so you can have even more control over the ~~royalty~~ totally democratically elected politicans by making them kiss your rancid rear while being out of their offices. You already have the make-up part & ridiculous hair-do down so well.

[–] HailSeitan@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

They don’t call it a Gilded Age for nothing

[–] AreaKode@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

No, no, no. He and his buddies are going to pay for it! They all just came into an unexpected windfall when a bunch of poors decided they didn't need their healthcare anymore!
