They’re going to find some amazingly gaudy things when the people finally storm the palace in twenty years or so.

Serious question about his supporters: Are they cool with this? Like, hey a $200 mio. ballroom at the white house is exactly what I voted for.

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

Who knows. I know there is a rift that has started within MAGA, over the Epstein stuff. I predict there will be no MAGA as it stands by the end of this reign of Trump, siting incidents like these with the ballroom, Zionist, pedos and more to come. Trump isn't worried about anyone, especially this term, as it is with all the presidents as they concentrate on their legacy (ego,) not their constituents, and campaign promises. The working class that voted for him will equally get a wake up call by terms-end, a come to Jesus moment.

Crony capitalism is just capitalism

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 11 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

I'm surprised it'll be in the white house and not in mar-a-lago

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

You didn't read the article I guess. There is already one at Mar a Lago.

It also says he and donors will pay for it. Does anyone believe that I wonder.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 4 hours ago

Can bet construction companies arw going to fuel that money into mar-a-lago projects

[–] CheezyWeezle@lemmy.world 18 points 18 hours ago

He doesn't plan on moving out

[–] amda@feddit.nl 10 points 19 hours ago

I misread that as "bathroom" and kinda belived it for a second...

[–] drdalek@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He is planning on never leaving. Or he wouldn't bother. He doesnt do things with foresight unless FOR himself.

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

This is just to distract you from him being a pedo

Building an opulent ballroom while making sure millions will lose their homes, go without healthcare, and starve? This sounds like the last days of the French monarchy.

[–] MDCCCLV@lemmy.ca 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's actually just a distraction. The real corruption is the 5 trillion in tax cuts for billionaires and the 1 trillion in healthcare cuts for Medicaid to partially for it. If you're talking millions you're being distracted.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Even fucking billions don't count for much any more.

Lib. "Crony capitalism" is not a thing. It's just capitalism. There is no form of capitalism that doesn't involve cronyism, that is just the natural conclusion of private ownership.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 7 points 17 hours ago

I am to please. (unless you are bourgeoisie then I aim to do a different thing but I still aim).

[–] appropriateghost@lemmy.ml 36 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I agree with you 100%, and Marx was very clear that capitalism is filled with theft and oppression. It's nice that Marx also at times rested his critique of capitalism abstracting all the crony-ness and analyzed capitalism with 'good intentions,' showing that even without the oppression/theft it's a failed system.

edit: misread!

The scary part about the ballroom is that he wouldn't be building it at the WH if he expected to be out of there in 3 years. He'd be building it at Mar-a-Lago or something.

Communist January 6ers in the ballroom in 2033:

I hope it accidentally burns to the ground

[–] folaht@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

I hope it doesn't........

I'd rather see it burn to the ground deliberately.

[–] Cat_Daddy@hexbear.net 21 points 1 day ago

There is no ethical capitalism

Will there be a plaque saying this ballroom brought to you by the death of sesame Street?

[–] groolthedemon@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (5 children)

One of the new episodes of Gumball has the answer to this. I never thought I'd see a kids show so blatantly just say it... EAT. THE. RICH.

I would think this guy was being so over-the-top cartoonishly evil on purpose just to get us to grow a spine and rise up to overthrow the corrupt government if we were actually growing a spine and rising up to overthrow the government.

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It won't happen, under Capitalism, they have a large part of the working class, PMC class, walking on a salary vs debt thin edge, too afraid to change anything because their world would fall apart. It is a devious plan and it works, prevents them from grabbing pitchforks, and often even attacking those that are trying to rise up against the oligarchs.

[–] AreaKode@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, no, no. He and his buddies are going to pay for it! They all just came into an unexpected windfall when a bunch of poors decided they didn't need their healthcare anymore!
