Hey, Youtube outright refuses to moderate hate content. Play stupid games...

My concern is enforceability, much as with the ongoing porn bans. That and age verification online as a concept, which seems like a massive privacy issue that is still easily bypassed. Although honestly Google probably already knows your age if you're on Youtube, along with your shoe size and pooping schedule.

Should ban everyone from watching YouTube tbh

I disagree. YouTube has a huge amount of educational content, tutorials, and quality entertainment. Sure, a huge percentage is brainrot trash, but there's plenty of value to be found.

This is the case with all platforms.

Mike Masnick writes with his agenda clear.

The anger-driven drivel is ironic given how many times he refers to Australia as stupid. It's possibly the worst, most single sided article I've read in a long time, if not ever.

Taking one perspective and running with it, even his single sightedness is narrow from the side he sits on.

I presume he named the publication after the way he posts his agenda.. Pure dirt.

Not a single mention of privacy issues other than age verification systems, which is fucking laughable. Fuck off Masnick with your bullshit.

Let’s see how this works out. Banning alcohol, cigarettes and other stuff works half of the time, so it seems healthy to me to try and block SoMe including jutub

Idea is great. Unfortunately unenforceable, though. The oligarchical internet is bad for brains. If they could come up with a way to do it without stripping everyone’s right to privacy I’d be all for it.

Stuff like this is why I prefer leftists over liberals

I second what Babalugats shares, it's a one-sided take. I also agree with Arcane2077, the idea is great, and it would be good to see this without stripping everyone's privacy. If that's even possible. The only way I see that happening is the whole yt repository is transitioned to open source sources, like peertube and hosted by the community. What a world that would be.

And Mudman is so right. When I see kids watching youtube, it's silly, stupid, sometimes hateful content.. it's honestly awful. I would try so hard for my kids not to watch that shit. Google wins my stupid prize 💔
