I find it super weird that we continue to use platforms like WhatsApp for stuff like this. It's failed multiple times, and other systems exist that would prevent screw ups like adding random people to stuff. It should be a closed system, especially since it's the dam government! You would think they take security seriously.

Good opsec adds "friction" to processes, and when the President's pet nazi demands 3,000 arrests a day, anything that slows the process down has got to go. They don't even wait for their victims to get out of their cars, because smashing the windows and pulling them out is faster.

Kristallnacht has already happened then. Americans are going to be the German public and just keep quiet then?

America is big, it will take a while. And quiet seems like an overstatement considering the no kings protest was the largest in the nations history. LA has an aggressive 24/7 protest by one of the ICE facilities. Volunteers in different cities are disrupting ICE activities and following agents to gather their personal information.

Most of the deployments are to blue areas right now, and 2/3 of the country watch Fox news exclusively or no news. So it will take a while for even more people to wake up.

They didn't even use WhatsApp or signal, they were literally plain unencrypted texting

Seriously, I've never worked anywhere dealing with anything so sensitive as "the government raiding homes" and yet still several of them would have rightly chewed me out if I was using whatsapp for business

In Australia that would contravene the archives act - I hope (IANAL).
Is there something similar in the US? I imagine enforcing it would be another matter.

We have similar laws on the books here, but there is no rule of law in the USA, only a dictator.

Even if they were smart enough to know it was a bad idea, and knew enough about rules and regulations to know it wasn't allowed, they'd still use it anyway because they're willfully idiotic and incompetent.

Bummer that ICE doesn't preemptively tip off all their raids.

It's one of the main requirements to join, and the other is being heartless.
