Played quite a bit of Donkey Kong Bananza, have reached the Feast layer, though I did miss a few things in previous layer so will go back to it later to collect everything.

This should be very near to the end, as the whole skill tree has been unlocked, and how the story is progressing. Not going to rush though, going to play at my own pace, collecting everything before moving forward.

Played a little Judgment, not much to add here. Will fully focus on it after finishing Bananza and AI: The Somnium Files.

Finished the next two routes in AI: The Somnium Files.

Apparently my first playthrough ended in what is probably "true ending route" (I am assuming), as you need to complete the other 3, Red, Yellow and Blue route before you can continue that.

I have finished Yellow and Red route, now to the Blue Route, which I am guessing is going to be pretty long, since it diverges on Day 2, while others do on Day 3 or 4.

It was interesting to see some more info about people and what's happening, but there are still so many questions. Hopefully everything will be clear by the time I finish it.

I mentioned Diablo IV a few weeks back, but we are almost at the end. Just play it with friends, one night a week, but since we are mainly sticking with the main campaign, our progress isn't that slow. Plan is to finish the game this weekend.

The game is fun, but I miss the Diablo II skill tree, that was much better than what we have now, IMO.

I'll probably stop playing after that, but I do plan to return to it later, to play solo with other characters and do all the side stuff.

What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?

Played Outward which is 88% off on steam. Pretty good coop rpg.

Played Vintage story. V1.21 dropped last week and most of the mods updated. Still no xskill or rpg loot yet sadly.

Played StarCitizen. Game is playable but still buggy. Lots of content to try. Had a 4 hour 5 person excursion into pyro to gather executive hangar tablets. Lots of fun was had.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

SwitchUp guys are fan of Outward, but I am not sure I would like the survival aspects. Someone mentioned you can use mod to reduce the survival aspect or make it easier, but would have to play on PC for that...

How much feature complete Star Citizen is now?

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Its hard to say for sc as they are so ambitious. Its far from complete but far enough along there is already more content than most space games.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Interesting, I have only heard about StarCitizen in the context of how much money they have taken, or how long it has been development. Not much about people actually playing the game, so nice to see someone enjoying it.

[–] Master@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago

Its a meme game in the same light of no mans sky. Joke for so long but they work hard and its turned into something amazing. But do a free fly first to demo it before dropping money. Like no mans sky... Its not for everyone.

Zelda TOTK now that I finally have a Switch again. So good in 4k HDR.

Dragon's age: Veilguard. Got this for free with PS Plus and was pleasantly surprised how fun it was despite the anti woke brigade review bombing it.

Moss 2: getting back into this VR game on PSVR2

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I enjoyed Veilguard, played more than half of it before dropping it. It's a pretty good game. Not a great game, but not bad either. Would love to hear your thoughts when you have finished it.

Moss games are very high on list for whenever I get VR, was planning for PSVR 2, but was recommended not to buy that (since Sony has mostly dropped it's support, like they did with Vita 😢 ). May get Meta Quest, there are rumours of a significant upgrade for next version, which is rumoured to be coming out next year.

[–] realitista@piefed.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah Veilguard is just a fun romp. Nothing too deep or meaningful, but just sort of a fun well paced refuge from everyday life.

There's still a pretty good pipeline of games for PSVR2. Not sure how long it will last, but for now my biggest issue is waiting for prices to come down on some of those titles rather than the lack of titles I want to play.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, we are getting many third party games, but sad to see Sony giving up on it themselves. And most of these games are available on Meta Quest too, plus many that aren't available on PS VR2, though don't know if that has changed lately.

I like PlayStation, but Sony is pretty bad when it comes to supporting there non-primary console.

[–] realitista@piefed.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah there should really be more first party games for it. Unfortunately it was probably doomed to some extent from the start due to the price. It's very hard to compete against quest's subsidized pricing and scale, and I guess most people don't care too much about having higher quality games.

Probably it's the last VR headset I will buy until someone figures out how to bring PSVR2 or higher graphical fidelity without buying a whole gaming PC and covert a large portion of standard AAA games to VR. Quest isn't good enough and PSVR2 won't get enough support.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

That is why first party support matters, if Sony has stuck with it many more people (like me) would have eventually bought it. This is same as Vita, if it doesn't outright sells millions, they lose interest.

The rumours about the next Meta Quest are pretty good, so it might be worth keeping an eye on.

[–] realitista@piefed.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Yeah it's true. I'm not sure I will be interested in another quest unless they can get PSVR2 level graphics, ie with some kind of external console. I think Valve may be more likely to be the first to pull this off but the price will probably be higher than I'm willing to pay.

[–] EntropyPure@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (13 children)

Do we wanna bet how often the answer is „Silksong“? 🤣

As for me: definitely be playing Silksong. Started yesterday, so far loving every second of it.

It’s my birthday weekend, so there’s games planned, but no idea what’ll get played. I’ve already got my morning hour of Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent in. I’ll edit later to add more!

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Oooh, Happy Birthday MisterDeutsch! May you have an amazing weekend.

[–] ApollosArrow@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Just finished Children of Morta. It was a very fun game. It has system that encourages you to play as all the characters, which I honestly thought I would hate, but it was fun getting to cycle. It had a decent story for being a rogue lite game, but I will likely be taking a break from the genere.

I will try to chip away at Age of Calamity some more.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nice. I should get around to Children of Morta soon too. Not a big fan of rougelite/like but have this from PS+ and have heard enough good things about it to give it a try. Also, Hades was my last try to like the genre and I enjoyed the game (even though I didn't like the roguelike aspects of it), so willing to give it one more chance.

[–] ApollosArrow@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was playing Hades when it was in netflix games, and then they removed it right after I started. I will likely wait a while before buying it.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Ah, that's why I don't like these subscription services. Used to have PS+ Extra but was constantly worried about games leaving the service, so downgraded from that.

I've just been playing Pokémon and Pikmin 4 for the last month or so because I've been so stressed that I can't handle anything more intellectually demanding.

I beat the main story of Pikmin 4 yesterday with no deaths, I'd reload every time anyone died. The final status screen listed 2 deaths, which I'm 100% certain didn't happen. I guess they must have been from when I played the demo back in June. Now I need to get jnto postgame stuff, but it's kind of ruined for me. I'll probably start over instead :( I know it doesn't make a difference, but still.

Pokémon is just shiny hunting in outbreaks because it's easy and mindless. I have a good 40-50 mons trained for raids and 90+ combat-ready, but standing in the field and pressing the auto-battle button is about as much ss I'm up for these days. At last count I had around 340 or so shinies, so the living dex is coming along.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How long is Pikmin 4? Sad to hear about the deaths. It's pretty annoying when you are going for something like this, and only find out after spending so much time.

Looking forward to next Pokémon?

[–] PDFuego@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

According to the final results screen it took 22.5 hours to complete the 4 main maps 100% and then do what's presented as the final challenge to hit the credits, but I definitely took my time. Not sure how much postgame content there is. If I end up restarting (I haven't had a day off since then to get into anything) I should be able to do things a lot quicker. A pretty major theme of the game is the pursuit of efficiency.

A lot of my stress lately has been work-related, and let's just say I might have a lot of free time coming up to play Pokémon, I should know next week :/

I don't know much about it because I try to avoid seeing anything and go into games blind, but the Internet has an infuriating need to know everything about upcoming games which makes that very difficult. I am looking forward to Z-A though, it should be fun.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

let’s just say I might have a lot of free time coming up to play Pokémon, I should know next week :/

I was going to say "cool", but that "smiley" at the end doesn't look like a good sign. Hope things work out well for you.

I don't play every Pokémon game, the last I played was Pokémon Sword and liked it. So may get Z-A or skip that one too and get the next one, that will be a proper Switch 2 game. Let's see.

I'm trying to make progress in Octopath Traveler 2. Maybe I'll finish that game one day?

[–] MisterDeutsch@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago

I might finish it if I force myself to get it done before Octopath Traveler Zero come out. Sometimes the battles are SO long!

[–] De_Narm@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Still on Baten Kaitos, of course.

As if the game itself read my last post, something major happened in the story and I was forced to use a few different characters. Getting their decks up to speed was surprisingly fast, although I didn't have enough good cards for them to actually replace the missing characters. Mostly because I never chose their cards from the available drops - as you can keep only one drop per battle. I am, however, still annoyed by benched characters getting only half EXP.

Overall, I always liked the story, but the second half of the game started off stronger than what came before. Sadly, it was accompanied by some backtracking through all the major dungeons. It only took a few hours, 2 or 3 I think, but battling enemies you've outleveled isn't interesting, but it's still slow.

Nothing else came up, but just for the counter, Silksong is on my list! Which means I'll probably play it this year or next one. I've long outgrown the need to consume things as they release.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I’ve long outgrown the need to consume things as they release.

Same here. I am still somewhere around 2018 or so, but I do make exceptions for some games, and this seems like a good game to make exception for.

[–] picandocodigo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Since last time I wrote here, I finished SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated and just started SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. It's similar, but it looks a bit better I think.

I also had the chance to play with 3 other people couch multiplayer. We had a few Mortal Kombat 11 fights and a 4-player co-op run of TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. So much fun!

I'm also still playing Cyberpunk 2077. I got to some Phantom Liberty missions, which happened seamlessly, so I wasn't sure if it was just missions, more map or what. Still having lots of fun and I see myself playing it for a while.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Couch co-op is fun!

How is the performance of Phantom Liberty? I think I heard that this is the main problem area. And have you finished rest of the game?

[–] picandocodigo@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I haven't finished the rest of the game yet, no. I have been doing some side quests and left the main story quests in the backlog.

I did notice some frame drops in different parts, but not much more than the usual (generally when driving and there's a lot of action around you).

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

Okay, thanks for the info!

[–] sdcSpade@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (4 children)

I haven't played much lately.

Bananza's post game is very underwhelming. Aside from the main content, which is okay, each world has maybe one or two new bananas added. And none of them are interesting in any way. Makes me wonder why they bothered to begin with?

Yakuza 3 is kinda starting now. The game went through the motions of introducing the three main mid bosses, I assume, and we're off to deal with them. After another round of Mahjong maybe...

The Witness has two faces. The puzzles that have you figure out the symbols within, which I like, and the puzzles that require you to find the solution with nearby shadows, sounds and whatnot, which I'm not as fond of. The world itself is really nice though, it kinda feels like you're in a dream with all the hidden lines in the environment and other little secrets that just kinda appear when you find the correct angle to look at them.

[–] picandocodigo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I felt similarly about Bananza and the post game. I really enjoyed the main game, but going back for bananas and the elder missions wasn't really that fun.

Finished Blade Chimera!

Another "short but good" metroidvania from Team Ladybug.

Fantastic visuals (I really love the animations), flawless performance even on the Switch 1, excellent controls and gameplay. I also enjoyed the flexibility it offers in combat, melee/ranged/magic all feel good to use and well-balanced, leaving the choice of which one to use more to your strategy and personal preferences.

There's some rather unique choices in this game, with all the "classic" metroidvania movement improvements like sliding and double-jump being optional and acquired from a skill tree as you level up. They also included an amazing fast-travel option, which is a "Warp" mechanic that lets you jump to virtually any room in the map and makes backtracking non-existent - and you can unlock that the first hour of the the game!

Overall I had a great time even though I still prefer the other games from the same developer (Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth) .

Playing Witch on the Holy Night!

Still on the "slow progress" stage.

Playing CrossCode!

Reached Chapter 8. Story took a surprising turn with some interesting twists and unexpected emotional moments.

But to be honest I'm rushing things because I'm starting to get bored with this game - while there's a lot of good stuff in it I also think it's overstaying its welcome. Haven't touched most recent sidequests, I'm no longer bothering with the environmental/plataforming puzzles, and will probably lower the difficulty to speed up battles.

I think the main reason is that sidequests and environmental puzzes don't feel rewarding, you spend a lot of time on them to just get some material for crafting/trades that you don't really care much about.
