I wrote a joke about that Fire Emblem is more important than mario in the announcement Post. It's for sure not more important but it got the most prominent spot on the direct. While i know the fanbase of Fire Emblem is a lot smaller than the mario fanbase it's a very good suprise for me. I expect to see a new game, but i was even more surprise about the setting of the game. Like a lot was i have seen.

Check out 01:51.

This game has guns in it.

![A still from the first Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave trailer. It shows Dietrich fighting an unnamed woman.

Dietrich is a tall, goth-looking man with white hair down to his shoulder blades. He is wearing elaborate black armour and wielding a glowing magic sword, made from a dragon's corpse. His sword is curved like a sabre and has a bunch of wicked-looking spikes jutting off the blade. He overall aesthetic is highly reminiscent of Alucard from Castlevania, or Elric of Melniboné from the works of Michael Moorcock.

His opponent is a woman wearing a flowing white dress and cape. Her dress has a high slit so you can see her legs.

Most pertinently to this post, the woman is holding a handgun. And it's not even a flintlock pistol, it's a modern-looking gun that resembles an Uzi. This might just be a placeholder asset, but she also has a gun holster strapped to her shoulder, so whatever the final weapon is, it's definitely going to be a gun.](https://media.thebrainbin.org/6b/7d/6b7d7e49007a6caff2e84d54a07df681875d0f621ccbdba239432a752d3a1208.png)

I was so sure you joke because in my head this person had a blue sword. But no, you are right.

[–] Infrapink@thebrainbin.org 4 points 3 months ago

I thought that too, because in motion there are lots of magic sparks coming off it. But then someone on another forum said there was a gun and yeah, it's a gun. I expect it will be replaced with a more fantastical design in the final game, but the lady has a holster on her shoulder, so it's definitely a gun of some sort.

I was so excited to see this! My wife commented that she’d never seen me play Fire Emblem before. And I probably never will, but my best friend loves this series, especially after 3 Houses. I hope there is a similar experience in this one so he can have that joy again.

@heythatsprettygood@feddit.uk looking forward to more amazing memes from you with a new game! :)

I am so ready (when I find time to play it, damn the 3DS games are so tempting after I finally fully complete 3H)

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (2 children)

What do you guys think about it?

I like the "idea" of FE, but when playing 3 houses, I didn't like the Monastery relationship building part. I played quite a bit but I wasn't able to build strong relationship with anyone, so got anxious that I won't be able to recruit them and miss out on important stuff, and then just dropped it.

[–] tamlyn@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Three houses is the only game with such a big monastery part. And you can't recruit much anyways in three houses, but sure it's possible to miss certain events. I'm not the biggest fan of three houses, bu I doubt it will be a copy of three houses style of gameplay. Three houses was co developed by koei tecmo, which had a lot gameplay influences. I haven't seen a note of them. I expect a good amout of three houses references, but completely new gameplay and overworld events. So let's wait and see, the style and setting already show intelligent system try something new

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's good to hear.

About 3 houses, is it worth playing even if I miss recruiting these people?

[–] tamlyn@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's up to you. Some people are annoyed by missing character, some not. But it's easily playable without recruit everyone. You would just miss besides the character the side story mission about those characters. But i think it's not that hard to recruit the majoyirty of them.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Other than missing out the side story, it doesn't effect true ending or make game difficult to complete?

[–] tamlyn@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Doesn't effect endings and i don't think it makes it difficult, expect you play classic mode and don't have units left

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Oh, I don't recall if it allows it, but I am definitely save scumming 😁

No one is going to die on my watch!

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I started disliking the monastery pretty much immediately. And when I realized I accidentally started a new day with actions still left to spend, I put the game down and never picked it back up. (Not entirely the game's fault, I have a really bad habit of losing interest and was in the middle of moving at the time. Fates also lost me when the castle stuff started feeling like a chore.) I had no such issues with Engage.

One of these days I'm going to have to buckle down and really give 3H another try. Especially because it seems like the sequel is the only FE we'll be getting for quite some time.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah, planning to give it another try soon-ish. Let's see how it goes.
