I think something else is causing a depopulation problem in Russia right now.

What could that be, I wonder?... Ah, I know, might be all those working and studying women that abandon their sacred duty to repopulate the Motherland. Definitely not the trenches in foreign countries where the men are dying...

Edit: typos.

Nah bro, it's all the birth control chemicals women are pissing out and then that water gets recycled, drank by the men, turning them into little soyboy cucks that can't get their little putin up unless they're watching those androgynous kpop boy bands

[–] Zerlyna@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That’s an interesting theory, I give you that.

I recommend everyone wears a lead helmet as much as possible to stop the 5G and radiowaves from turning your brain into mashed potatoes

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait, lead? I thought aluminum?!?! Faaack

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 11 points 3 days ago

It's too late for you man.

Headline isn't wrong though. Population is definitely getting smaller, and it's the young dying.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Depopulation was an issue a decade or more before the war. Which makes the meat grinder even harder to understand.

Not a problem unique to Russia, but they could help themselves by not getting hundreds of thousands of Russians killed in pointless wars.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago

What do you think Putin wants a young population for?

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 35 points 3 days ago (2 children)

He only cares about more meat for the meat grinder.

Let's be real, that's the logic of most world leaders

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Depopulation has been an issue in Russia for some time. At one point they created a holiday for everyone to stay home from work and fuck, though I think that was a regional thing.

I would love to halve the human population, but the economic situation is going to be horrific for decades as we figure out how to adjust.

Restrictive laws to try to force the population to have more children... Where have we seen this before?

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’m curious how far would an authoritarian country go to improve birth rates.

Unless they go full evil, you can’t really force people to have kids when they really don’t want to.

I beg to differ, and i dont consider altering sex ed to be full evil. When people have a lot of money and power and political influence they can do some bad unethical things. Things like requiring "the correct race" to breed and "the incorrect race" to have forced military drafts and mobilizations. It's right now easier for other immediate goals to ... not go that route yet. Let the robots and automation catch up to the depopulation is my guess.

For someone so keen on getting Russia back to the "golden age," maybe Putin should have put more effort on listening to the people.

[–] sukhmel@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago

Nah, he should've just outlaw being unhappy, so that everyone would be happy

[–] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 days ago

In Russia it is illegal to grow old.

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

That's a big flat surface.
