“Trump, he’s had it with these people, because he knows they’re playing politics,” said the second person. “Nobody thought it was going to last this long.”

Trump and his top aides thought that unpaid federal workers, closed and limited federal facilities and threats of ever-more job cuts from Russ Vought, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, would be too much for Democrats to handle

“I don’t know what’s wrong with them,” he said of Democrats Friday. “They’ve never done a thing like this. They’ve become crazed lunatics. All they have to do is say, ‘Let’s go. Let’s open up our country.’ And everything snaps back into shape. So there’s something wrong with them... It’s their fault. Everything is their fault. It’s so easily solved.”

"I don't know what's wrong with them. All they have to do is agree to let us cut funding so that millions of poor Americans won't be able to afford health insurance. All they have to do is say, 'Let's go! Let's fuck over poor Americans to fund tax breaks for billionaires!'"

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 45 points 2 weeks ago

They caved the last 30 times, must have gone crazy!

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago

I mean, that part already happened...

Now that everyone is seeing the price increases, it's going to be harder for Republicans to say it's not important.

They should have pushed for a long term CR before those insurance increases hit.

Art of the Deal and all, trump was focused on his ballroom.

"They've become crazed lunatics."

Does anyone remember when McConnel broke the Congress and drove it into as much of a dead standstill as possible, during basically all of Obama"s first term?

The Dems grow an iota of a backbone at the actual last possible fucking moment, to attempt to run the clock on an actual fascist takeover, by a convicted felon con artist rapist pedophile treasonous demented fat fuck...

And now the Republicans call this 'lunacy.'

Its maybe 5% of what the Reps did during Obama's first term, in terms of actual political obstructionism.

These racist idiot fucks truly cannot fathom anything other than lying, and naked force and oppression, and they appear to be actually baffled by even the idea that anyone could use a very, very mild version of their own tactics against them.

They truly have no conception of nor capacity to actually negotiate anything.

Their idea of negotiation is dictation from a position of overwhelming superiority, and then every underhanded lie, dirty trick and obfuscation possible to ensure they have that overwhelming superiority.

Beat the shit out of your bullies, kids, otherwise they grow up to be Republican politicians.

Aim for the jaw, pretty hard to be a public speaking figure if they physically can't speak.

It's not stupidity. It's malice. They KNOW they're being hypocrites.

Start fucking BELIEVING THEM when they're telling you what kind of sadistic hypocritical fascists they are.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 2 weeks ago

Oh, I know.

I grew up being raised on Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, lots and lots of Christian extremeism.

I just try to step back and rationally comprehend the level of their hypocrisy, from time to time.

Jaws break hands. Try the nose instead. Bullies are squeamish at the sight of their own blood, naturally being cowards. And once you disorient them, the neck is very squishy.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Punching a jaw doesn't break your hand if you know how to throw a proper punch.

Learn some Karate, Muay Thai, Boxing/Kick Boxing, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, etc, just make sure you go to a real dojo/training center, led by someone with actual pedigree, not a McDojo that's just an overpriced daycare.

Yes, a well executed quick jab to the nose can easily break it and cause bleeding, but a successful solid hit to the jaw will get them tasting their own blood, not just seeing it.

Moreover, the goal is to incapacitate the threat, the threat being propogation of the bully's bullshit.

Noses heal quickly, a deviated septum is annoying but manageable.

A seriously broken jaw is disabling, seriously damaged tendons and muscles there cause constant pain and nuisance while speaking, eating, drinking, and more effectively disable the ability to publically propogate bullshit.

If punching a nose is not painful for you, but punching a jaw is?

You need to do more training. You need to be capable of handling more pain, you need to have proper form, you need to have proper strength and control in your hand, wrist, arm and shoulder.

Throw a bit of a hook, or do a more straight punch from an off center axis or angle, learn how to do both a real nose jab, and a fake out nose jab that then ducks or shifts to throw the real strike afterward.

Any dumbass can throw all their weight into a full on haymaker or straight punch just generally aimed at the face.

A person with excellent control and technique can alter the amount of force, angle of attack, kinematic total flow of an attack... in the split second between starting the attack, and it connecting.

Core strength and flexibility is key.

For most people who aren't seriously jacked, all strikes that can do serious damage originate from the torso, the hips, the abdomen. Jabs from a seriously fit person can do serious damage, but presuming a training regimen starts from already being jacked in all the right muscle groups... is unrealistic, and ineffective training for just most people who aren't already some kind of gym addict.

Oh right, final note:

Never, EVER, intentionally aim a frontal strike at the throat, the trachea, the windpipe.

Not unless you want to go from the goal of incapacitating an attacker, to manslaughter/murder.

There is way too high of a chance of literally killing someone, intentionally or not, with a frontal strike aimed at the windpipe.

Do that in basically any officially sanctioned fight of any kind, and you're going to be penalized or disqualified.

Do that in real life and yeah, you may kill somebody.

[–] Geodad@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Not if you hit the jaw in the area of the molars. It breaks easily, and shocks the vagus nerve. Usually a one shot KO.

[–] worhui@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I mean is LAMF for the voters , but not for the political party. Federal spending is being slashed. Federal handouts are stopped and the ACA is ending without an inconvenient vote; all while making Epstein a long forgotten memory. This shutdown is exactly what the party wanted, they just wish it was permanent.

[–] Skyrmir@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Dems have required that any resolution include the requirement that all allocated funds be used as allocated. Which means Trump wouldn't be able to steal them like he has been with illegal impoundment or moving fund to other purposes. That's what the GoP won't negotiate on, and it's really the only reason any Dem would agree to anything getting passed.

[–] zd9@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

They won't negotiate on anything, ever, period. That's their whole platform: don't argue in good faith to solve a problem, it's their way or no way. They are absolutely domestic terrorists (they literally said that themselves in CPAC).

I’m baffled that this man wasn’t executed for treason after that insurrection he masterminded.

[–] Peruvian_Skies@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'm not. I would be if the USA had been a healthy democracy when he did that, but it wasn't. Trump just made evident the problems that had been festering for decades.

The USA is like the late Roman Empire. Most elected officials at the municipal, state and federal level are either corrupt or passive in the face of corruption. The news only occasionally reports truthfully on a political issue and that's probably only because the truth happened to coincide with the agenda they had already decided to push before the truth even happened. The wealth inequality is much higher than what is tolerable and growing at an accelerating rate. The population is either too beaten down to resist tyranny or too distracted by entertainment to care.

The only two possible paths for the country now are an all-out civil war or an inevitable march into an overt dictatorship.

Or Trump could die. That would be the best solution. And if we're really lucky, nobody will even have to assassinate him as is the patriotic duty of every single American; he's old and senile and his health is shit. He could die tomorrow. But he won't because this is the worst possible timeline.

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 21 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly I'm baffled the Dems are attempting to have a backbone too. Here's hoping they've finally graduated from whiffle ball to tee-ball.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Maybe, if you can't get the votes for your bill, the problem is your bill?

Up here in Canada we might be facing an election in the near future if the liberal minority government can't get enough votes for it's budget.

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah that sounds like it but gerrymandering plays a huge part

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 17 points 2 weeks ago

Blackmailer: „why are they not bowing before my insane demands? They must be mad“

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump, he’s had it with these people, because he knows they’re playing politics

Politicians are playing politics?! 😱

Yeah, "playing" at it. Trying to do stupid things like "helping people" rather than existing solely to stuffing their own pockets while their donors rob everybody blind. Y'know, the "real work"

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ooh, one of those rare but oh-so-satisfying situations where a leopard ate his own face?

[–] ef9357@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Trump is baffled by many things.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Dumbass used to people caving. Doesn't have an ounce of sense on how to deal with that.

[–] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

It's all a distraction and a show for the republican voter base.

The only people still in the GOP now have accepted they are the nazi, pedophile, country destroying, family destroying, inflation causing party. They accept it full on, or they simply don't care about humans enough to really do any research onto what is going on.

For many people, ignoring the issues in front of your face is all they know.
