People implicated in the late sex offender’s crimes might face criminal charges or, at the very least, social ostracism

I think we know, don't we? War with Venezuela.

[–] velindora@lemmy.cafe 20 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

What happened to Panama? Wait, what happened to Greenland? I thought we were invading Canada?

[–] tuff_wizard@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

We’ve always been at war with Eastasia

[–] Humanius@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Haven't we always been at war with Eurasia?

[–] velindora@lemmy.cafe 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Looks like mostly trees. Why are we angry at trees?

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 5 points 2 weeks ago

They make oxygen. He hates them.

[–] tuff_wizard@aussie.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago

The ministry of truth told us to… (These are all 1984 references just to make sure we are all on the same page)

[–] OutwateredFish@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Gotta sharpen their sticks on someone after all.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Hoping it works as well as Galtieri’s invasion of the Falklands worked out for him (barring it not happening at all, which is definitely preferable)

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

could easily see it being a bay if pigs fiasco, nobody sane wants to die for trump or the alcoholic he put in charge of the DoW.

get some orders to invade em? send those that do in a poorly supported ad-hoc invasion to cull em, have the media spin all that shit, the dead, the embarrassing US military competency myth, onto trump and co.

Who aré we expecting to counterattack the US? Because the Falklands blew up in the face of Argentina because the UK took them back

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

I just meant a strategic failure resulting in a dictator getting kicked to the curb. Definitely not expecting Venezuela to invade the US

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Due to the war, we can't release the files.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago

... and a lot of redactions

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

What happens next?

Nothing. Nothing happens next. If we had a functioning DOJ, maybe something. But we don't have that, so absolutely nothing will happen.

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago

Don’t be such a fucking defeatist. Yeah, it’s most likely not going to result in Trump et al getting what they deserve, at least immediately, but don’t just assume that it won’t matter at all. That attitude is exactly what those bastards want us to feel. Don’t fucking give it to them!

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 16 points 2 weeks ago

Look, anyone can print out 50 pages of solid black ink. Are we actually going to release them?

Narrator: they would never release the philes’ files.

[–] karashta@piefed.social 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I expect it to be full of only Democrat names and lots of places where Trump's name was hastily redacted, as well as other powerful right wing figures.

I dunno... he's such a narcissist I'm not sure he can bear to scrub out his name for any reason.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Possibilities? ... in the US?

The only possibility I ever see in the US is in knowing that they are going to make everything so much worse for everyone else .

[–] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

The markets will go up and the rapists will be SLAMMED by the media.

That's all that will happen.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago

Trump goons had unrestricted access to the files for way too long. Nothings going to happen.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

For those that think the files will be heavily redacted, I have a question. Ready?

We just got 20,000 docs that were not redacted in any way. How do you think the full release will be edited?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

They won't release anything of consequence. They will throw a few people under the bus as a sacrifice, but rest assured that any page implicating Trump has been vetted and removed in the interest of "national security".

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I demand to know what the plan is for holding Trump accountable for his crimes

[–] chillhelm@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Here is the itemized plan in order:

[–] richardmtanguay@lemmings.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Um...Put Edward Rooney in detention!!?? ;-)
