From first hand exoerience, this is true. In the corporate world, it was kinda this but a little less prominent when i was in it a decade back. Since then, I've been able to avoid it. The more known to me issue is that in small business world, the situation is similar now. The small business owners can get away with trying to keep their employees better paid, treated fairly and ask their opinion on matters and offer them stake in the company, etc. But as i have learned the hard way, this can and will cost you a fortune as some freak will gain your trust and take off with part of your company at best and all of it at worst. The sysrem is rigged that way. You cant be an honest entrepreneur who just tries to organize a bunch of people and share business with them. You have the whole education and state system against you, nudging people into selfishness ans dysfunctionality, hurting the common goal of the group and forcing you to act authoritarian, etc. Its cruel to watch. I'm kinda glad that i'm not in the position to decide over others' economical fate anymore.

"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

It's like that in low skill, low paying jobs too. Anything to get that thirteen cents extra on the hour. It's that bad.
Meaning no disrespect to younger comrades, a young person studying for an accounting degree claiming to be in or know anything about the corporate world is 100% talking out of their ass
