Maduro is tricky though; basically everybody (not just US cronies) agrees that he did not really win the last 2 elections.
But why would the US take such an interest in this small country?

Washington has not provided any proof for its claims. Cartel de los Soles is actually a term Venezuelans use to refer to officials engaged in corruption, and is not an organised cartel.
