What can the world do? Not one country is strong enough to enforce demand on the US and a coalition seems unlikely. How can one stop such a dictator?

[–] prex@aussie.zone 8 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I hear a lot of "sell us treasury bonds".
What effect does this have?

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 13 points 6 days ago

It would force the US to pay for the value of those bonds and either default on the bonds by not paying (and losing any negotiating power on the world financial stage), Or loose about 31 Trillion paying out bonds to countries.

We're under the rule of a deranged madman and the media is desperately trying to spin this as "business as usual".

[–] plyth@feddit.org 7 points 6 days ago

It's not a lone madman. It's just such good propaganda that nobody is asking who the people are who came up with the plan of conquering Venezuela.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

The media is captured, it's complicit, it's bought and controlled by people like Murdoch.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 8 points 5 days ago

I hope all these brave american "heroes" rot in hell. Thank you for your service, nazi scum

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 16 points 6 days ago

Full speed ahead and ignore the Epstein files.

He heard they have little girls he could rape and traffic.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 12 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

He also threatened Cuba, Denmark/greenland, Mexico, Canada and Panama. The turd Reich just had its Austria moment so you can bet on more imperialist expansion.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

And Colombia. He thinks the US owns the western hemisphere

What's interesting for me is the last 20 or so years of hearing people talk about how Iran or NK or whoever should never have nuclear weapons because, you know, their leaders may just be crazy enough to use them. (When historically nukes have proven to be the best deterrent against the belligerent aggression of major world powers.)

And here in the US, we're on our third admin in a row run by someone with evident, public mental illness and travels with an arsenal of nukes at his fingertips.

The world has a breaking point where they won't put up with the US' shit anymore, and we may find out what that is in 2026.

No one will believe this:

20 years ago, eating lunch behind Taco Bell, George Bush is President, listening to Limbaugh (I know! It was a long time ago.)

Rush is going off about how it's none of America's business to police Iran's nuclear capability and that Iran has the right to develop not only power stations, but weapons, for the same reasons you outline. He argued for some time on the subject.

I'd kill for a recording of that because I'm pretty certain he flipped the script once Obama was in and trying to limit Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Gfdi i didn't put "ww3" on my 2026 bingo card

[–] Dragster39@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I hate the idea that nobody actually wants to fight but we might be forced to by some old men and billionaires.

I hope that there will be some kind of uprising before this actually happens.

[–] SethW@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

yeah, thats how ukraine feels -- people like trump and putin bringing their wars to people who have to defend themselves

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago

[–] nforminvasion@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Try the whole western hemisphere.

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 days ago

Do it! Do it! Your citizens will sit and watch, like the rest of the world.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.myserv.one 60 points 1 week ago (15 children)

Trump has gone made and Republicans sit on their hands. We need to try these people as traitors.

[–] msage@programming.dev 15 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Is he mad?

Or is she showing the world the true state of its affairs?

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 8 points 6 days ago

Por que no los dos

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 days ago

Trump isn't doing anything the US government hasn't done since WWII. Chile had a democratic government so US brought in a dictator.

Since nobody is going to mass shoot these motherfuckers, I am actually praying to a god that doesn't exist that like 80% of these pieces of shit drop dead of some kind of causes, natural or otherwise.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well that's quite likely. The vast majority of people do die as a result of some sort of cause.

[–] random_character_a@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think he meant it as his/her 2026 new years wish.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Probably also dancing around the 'a' word

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The demented fuck is just flailing around lashing out at other countries at this point...

[–] l_isqof@lemmy.world 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I think he just wants to push the Epstein files out of the discussion.

[–] PrimeMinisterKeyes@leminal.space 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Sure. Which country's leader would not bomb, invade and threaten other countries all around the world to distract from their scandal du jour.

[–] BigBolillo@mgtowlemmy.org 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

IDK why this reminds me of the NK rhetoric, maybe in the end they weren't wrong.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The rhetoric, absolutely. The difference is that this idiot has a big, loaded gun that works.
