You have 4.5 million in children in poverty, torture and imprison those against British war crimes, have successive governments arm, fund and give political cover to an ongoing genocide. Either you don't live in a democracy of the masses or you do and the people are culpable of its state's war crimes. Maybe go hoist a genocidal flag up a street lamp to maintain that national self esteem while people can't pay for heating, food or see their GP. Must be all those immigrants' fault that prop up what remains of your NHS or the asylum seekers who flee your country's destruction abroad (sanctions, wars, coups, IMF economic racketeering etc).
Remember, the workers' of the Global South don't depend on you, you depend on them. And that tap of superexploitation is slowly turning off which is why your cost of living is going through the roof. Venezuela went through land reform and farm collectivization. There are widespread and large scale participatory structures throughout Venezuelan society from communes to citizen militias and many things in between.
Venezuela is considered undemocratic by the usual suspects, for all the usual cynical reasons. Nationalizing oil fields has always attracted claims of dictatorship. The US and UK overthrew Iran's elected leader for nationalizing their oil fields.
Stop parroting the bullshit and actually look into the situation with the knowledge that the entire Western world is engaged in a 25-year-long propaganda war against Venezuela.
It's entirely unsurprising that pro-imperialist Statesian and European institutions are claiming Venezuela is undemocratic because private capital can't freely plunder their oil. The Venezuelan elections were monitored by 800 international observers and the vast vast majority of them saw nothing suspicious (the few that did were coincidentally on US State Department payroll). Venezuela also has one of the most well safeguarded electoral process in the world.
Also the opposition literally cries electoral fraud in every single election they lose, but had no issues in the two instances they won.
And they don't really do that for the domestic audience, it's purely for the western media. Case in point, after establishing multiple (contradicting) websites supposedly demonstrating the electoral fraud, they didn't even bother showing up for a commission set up in Venezuela were they were to present their "evidence".
