Sounds like they are preparing for a strike on Iran which might result in counterstrikes by Iran in Israel and Lebanon

[–] SwampYankee@feddit.online 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That or all out war between Israel and Lebanon.

It's honestly hard to keep up with what Trump is up to, it's something new every day.

[–] homes@piefed.world 74 points 2 months ago

That’s the entire point of the “flood the zone with shit” strategy

[–] canofcam@lemmy.world 60 points 2 months ago (1 children)

People need to realise it's not all Trump. He is the face of an organisation. He is a spokesperson. Yes he has power but he is not some puppetmaster pulling all of these strings.

[–] Eq0@literature.cafe 23 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Yes, but saying “Trump” is shorter and often clearer than “the loosely defined group of people of which Trump is the spokesman”

[–] canofcam@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's fair, I just hate this idea that he's some mastermind behind everything that's happening, when really he's just an old, weak man who says words that right wingers love.

Unfortunately, war seems to be the only thing that gets the news cycle off of his child trafficking empire. So expect lots more of it in the next few years.

I thought Mexico was next but Iran it is

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Mexico, Iran, Colombia, Canada, Greenland, Panama... there are so many for him to choose from for his next unwarranted attack!

And don't forget his other favorites: Nipple, Aberbaijan, and Thighland!

All the countries his regime wants to bomb/invade https://youtu.be/F2r1dS93Wdw

[–] auraithx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They’ve started ‘surgical strikes’ on ‘cartel members’ in Mexico too.

[–] EvergreenGuru@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (2 children)

War with Mexico is going to result in terrible consequences for the lower 48. Not sure what the elite see in a war with a neighboring country.

Owning the hemisphere within the next 5-15 years and stripping it for resources ?

[–] Twig@sopuli.xyz 3 points 2 months ago

Why not both?

Why is trump doing something I've advocated that the US should be doing (removing embassy staff from Israel) suddenly so ominous? Goddamnit I hate this fucker.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 29 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So they don’t get killed when Iran retaliates to whatever the fuck is about to happen next

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Then why Lebanon too?

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 34 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Iranian citizens are rising up. If the US bombs Iran, I fear that momentum will stall or reverse. This might be what the US wants as it maintains the status quo, but that's just me theorizing.

Born just in time to invade the middle east.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 11 points 2 months ago

Didn't Rusia do The same like yesterday?

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago

Unconfirmed reports to the Canary suggest that the US is withdrawing non-essential staff from its embassies in both Lebanon and Israel.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being true, but I'll wait for confirmation.

Would Russia let themselves get called into a war with the US over Iran?

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I'm not sure if they would, but I know that they can't. They're already getting to the dregs of their stockpiled soviet munitions. Another war front will have them back to a 'pick up the dead guy's gun' situation.

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

A couple years ago, they couldn't even provide the token military support for a long-time ally, almost-neighbor, and main stronghold in the Caucasus - Armenia - in what was basically a more-or-less righteous (even if legally dubious) defensive war against Azerbaijan. Instead the few russian troops already stationed there just withdrew in an orderly fashion. This resulted in quite a serious anti-Russian shift in the country, so much so that they basically withdrew from CSTO, and are starting to consider leaving the EEU and joining the EU.

Do you seriously think they would be able to provide meaningful support for Iran, against the US?

[–] Critical_Drinking@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

So thats why Iran's goldreserves are flown to Russia.
