And just like that, 35% of Americans are now cheering for Iran.

[–] PenguinMage@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (4 children)

35? I feel like that's a low ball... though the sad fact is if it happened shit would probably get a lot worse real fast.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's about how I picture America - 35% now love Iran, other 35% are outraged out of their minds and think that Trump should nuke Iran, and the rest think iRan is a fitness app and instantly blocked that source of ads.

I don't normally like seeing violence / gore. It makes me queezy and upset. I don't click on NSFL links ever.

But I would watch this. If the current potus was assassinated by someone (especially a foreign contract for hire), and it was captured on video, I would watch it on repeat, at various speeds, and I would relish in his pain as he capitulates to the cold clutch of death's grip.

I would save the video and revisit it from time to time as a reminder that sometimes people do get what they deserve.

It feels like there are about 100 million of us in the states scratching our necks like Dave Chappelle and saying "y'all still got any of that 'regime change' we been handing out?"

Honestly, I'm not entirely convinced that the bullet missed at all.

[–] Zier@fedia.io 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Well he was brain dead before the attempt, so it's hard to tell if they missed or not.

Is there a gofundme that I can donate to to help speed this up?

How can we help?

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago

Fingers crossed

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 29 points 1 month ago

This time it will not miss the target.

I sure hope not!

People forgetting even if Trump will be or had been assassinated, Vance would just take his place and continue the train. Besides, Iran has been claiming they can do this since forever with nothing to show for it.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 45 points 1 month ago (5 children)

The hope is Vance doesn’t have the charisma to keep the cult together.

[–] Throbbing_banjo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Neither does Trump. I don't know where the argument that he has some kind of Magic Secret Fascism Sauce comes from. Republicans fucking love idiots and have been rabidly supporting them for decades now, and they'll blindly follow Vance just like they're blindly following Trump. It could be a sentient mop with a bucket hat, they literally do not care. Trump didn't win the election, project 2025 did.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 10 points 1 month ago

I don’t know where the argument that he has some kind of Magic Secret Fascism Sauce comes from.

Charisma isn't a universal thing, it is about appealing to a large chunk of the population but not the population as a while. In this case he has been the face for the fascist MAGA movement for like a decade now with people who constantly ignore how his policies harm them directly and still support him. He has charisma when it comes to hateful morons who want to hear a fat old white dude spout the racist shit in their heads without any kind of moral compass that would lead to being embarrassed.

They won't follow Vance because Vance doesn't have the same belligerent and arrogant delivery despite saying the same hateful stuff because it is clear Vance is a try hard spineless wanna be grifter and not someone who has been an entitled shit their entire lives because they were born into wealth. Vance isn't the strongman that the Republican party has been stoked to follow.

"chilling"...

I'm tired of the media calling normal human rights heartwarming and news like this "chilling"

An 80 old woman being able to go on retiremen or a child being able to pay for prosthetic limbs because of charity is not heartwarming. These are the real chilling facts.

An action against a President who does not respect international law should be heartwarming although it's drastic

And yeah.. I might be on a list now and not able to enter the USA... 🤷

I'm gonna say something unpopular: canonising your worst enemies as martyrs isn't gonna end well for anyone

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 29 points 1 month ago (5 children)

I really, really hope he dies of natural causes on live TV.

If he's assassinated things are going to get much worse.

[–] TaeKwonDoh@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (5 children)

Wouldn't it be nice to see Trump go down like a sack of potatoes mid self-aggrandizing rant at a press conference or something, and the bonk of his head off the podium to be sampled into a thousand EDM tracks from that moment until the next election?

Chilling? Do you mean arousing?

[–] optissima@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

It is chilling; I'd feel much more chill if it happened /j

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

WTF I love Regime change now!

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

What about the governments of Iran and the USA start a deathmatch, one versus one, and then they all explode?

I'll chill the champaign!

Instead of a bullet make it an ICBM and we are golden! One that could take vance and hegseth out as well.?

[–] 30p87@feddit.org 12 points 1 month ago

Chilling as in positive

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 month ago

Well?

Get on with it!

The relationship graph between US protesters, the Trump regime, the Iranian people, and the Iranian regime is a fucking tangled mess

[–] tal@lemmy.today 10 points 1 month ago (7 children)

Frankly, if I were about to initiate a conflict with the US, I'd rather have Trump running the country, but you do you.

I'd prefer some death note shit go down but I'll take anything at this point

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 1 month ago

This will probably be effective on Trump because he's an idiot. Everyone else knows it if you want someone dead you don't tell them about it first.
