This sounds like a stupid question, but I'm being genuine.

He is telling people to eat more meat, which sounds absolutely insane to me.

What qualifies him to give health advice ? Why are americans trusting him ?

Even his own family members have said he is in no state of mind or health to be in any position of authority whatsoever.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Again, we americans are not. Only the antivax fools are.

I've been addicted to uh, almost everything besides heroin and gambling. I still give better advice than deflated-scrotum-face. But I also know how science works and why it's a good thing. I believe in germ theory. I don't throw roadkill on the roof of my car and eat it tartare later.

People with old, dead, rotten brains recognize his Dad and Uncle's name. It reminds them vaguely of a time when their own father's were in charge of all the hard decisions, their joints didn't hurt and they had an undefined future that could have been wonderful. That future has come though and turns out they are just themselves... they failed, nothing fun they wanted really happened and everything confuses them now. They feel like frauds about to be found out and forgotten at the same time.

So seeing something they think they recognize voting for "a Kennedy" makes them indirectly fell that their own Dad will magically come back to life, tell them he's proud and then they will be millionaires and attractive people will want to have have sex with them and fix their iPhones.

It's just that.

Because we don't have a choice of who is in that position. The Grand Old Fascist Party has completely removed any form of democracy in this country. So now we are just stuck watching it happen.

Just because junior is saying stuff doesn't mean Americans are listening or obeying.

[–] eletes@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

This all stems from eroded systems coupled with a lack of good education and our media. Not everyone is listening to him but his messages didn't become popular overnight. The carnivore diet, raw milk, anti vaccine, anti masking, anti fluoride movements have been bubbling in echo chambers for decades now.

Because people weren't smart enough to see through them, they've created a market for alternative health and pseudo science.

We're living that quote from Carl Sagan.

I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time—when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness.

I certainly don't take health advice from that crypt keeper looking fucker, and I'm sure I'm far from the only one who doesn't take health advice from unhealthy people

Green planet, veganism, healthy ... all woke lefty communist snowflake bullshit. Eat meat, must be more gooderer. Eat more meat must be most gooderest!

What qualifies him to give health advice ? Why are americans trusting him ?

For those that are listening to him. It's because he's pandering to what they want to hear. Not because what he's saying is right.

Fox News. Endless propaganda and ratings driven idiocy. People watch the most alarmist "news" and they jump on this bandwagon of stupidity. In particular, people of limited education/intelligence love to be anti science, because for once they can feel like the person that is actually smart.

It's scary.

America is not a meritocracy. People are routinely appointed to positions they have no business being in.

Also, Kennedy represents a crowd that is fundamentally lost to a social media reinforced "vibes based" reality. These people can live a solid major of their day without encountering objective reality. Their worlds are built around bullshit machines incentivised to feed them an ever increasing amount of bullshit.

These people votes, drive cars, have children, and carry firearms. So you can see why this place is so fucked.

Lack of education.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 4 points 1 month ago

Because he says 'things weren't like this when I was a kid' and it resonated hard with dumb people who see stuff like autism and transgender problems to be eradicated

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Most of us aren't. Hell, most of us didn't listen to the Secretary of Health and Human Services before.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 month ago

There are pictures of this guy eating dog roasted on a spit. I am certain he picked up that dead bear because he wanted to eat it (the one he dumped and made it look like it was hit by a scooter).

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Having a former heroin addict in the highest health policy position is nothing compared to voting a fraud and pedophile into the highest office in the country. Twice!

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I've gone zero days since the 2024 election without seeing a liberal target fascists with insults that are oriented toward vulnerable groups. Jokes about old people being valueless, queer people being weak and deceptive, fatness as a sign of poor moral character. People who make these jokes also incomprehensibly claim that they challenge fascism fundamentally and not only when it comes for them.

This man is going to be singlehandedly responsible for an incalculable number of deaths (many of which will be addicts who are disproportionately excluded from access to medical treatmen) and he is in the position to do so by capitulating to an infamous pedophile, rapist, and failed business man. What kind of person would take the opportunity to assert that addicts aren't to be trusted when talking about a man who is already RFK Jr.?

because he brought beef tallow fries back

if you have not had the pleasure will instantly change your opinion

beef tallow fries are fucking awesome

steak n' shake is one of the places where can find everything fried in beef fat not just the fries but the onion rings chicken tenders everything

even offer beef tallow by itself to fry with at home

plus addicts know their healthcare paraphernalia and can find a vein better than any nurse
