Wanna bet Trump is going to use the non-joining of allied nations as a pretext for turning on them even more? "These countries can't be taken seriously, as they refused to join the board of peace, which means they are fundamentally against peace".

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 35 points 3 months ago

He already threatened France with tariffs because they didn't join.

"Therefore, let's attack them in the name of PEACE!"

That sounds like some MAGA logic.

"Fighting for Peace is like fucking for Virginity." -- John Lennon

Nah he won’t.

Mainly because the states Trump wants to hang out with are agreeing anyways

Anyone else feel almost like this is a giant game of civ and trump is a bit high, and attempting to execute two victory conditions simultaneously?

I get Paradox grand strategy vibes every now and then, and his actions mirror those of someone who's entered an inescapable death spiral

I was thinking it was a rip-off of Legion of Doom.

Lmao I looked at the wiki paged to see how unhinged it is and who joined/declined. The list of countries accepting is basically exactly who you'd expect.

It took until now to learn that Denmark wasn't even invited.

It made me sad to see so many countries in there

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 months ago

Who won't anyone want to pay me a billion dollars to join my board of sad dollar store supervillain wannabees?

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Why were they invited? There's no fascist authoritarian government in NZ.

"JOIN MY BOARD OF PEACE AND GIVE ME MONEY OR I'LL BOMB YOU...in the name of peace, or something. Ok, if you just give me money we'll probably not bomb you. Probably."

[–] KiwiTB@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They only said no as its an election year.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 6 points 3 months ago

Yeah, I'm slightly surprised this ~~clowncar~~ government didn't accept.

My guess is most countries who got one will just leave it to rot somewhere. Unless it's an election year, apparently.

Right now I'd be highly interested if anybody accepted at all..

Thanks! Many more countries than I thought. Ultimately no surprises, but still: This is really, really sad. Considering the whole thing is a grift and a strictly top-to-bottom structure, in other words autocratic.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 months ago

It's probably got caught up in most countries' spam filter.

So far there is two types, on that pro Palestine, the other is pro Israel.

I think it became apparent that the UN with the security Council is a scam and useless. This seems to be as a plan to create a private entity that can act internationally without being sucked into the legal system of the UN. At the same time a good scam to funnel money to reconstruction companies owned by Trump family.

In term of the countries, we can see that many accepted to ensure the peace agreement go through, which clearly being violated by Israel every day, but at least there is some relief to the survival in Gaza.

The other group is countries that support Israel to help push their agenda or force a situation where the dicision have to be decided by their friends at the top.

I don't believe the countries that refused to join did it because they don't believe in it, or because they think it is a scam, or that it is unethical or illegal, I think they didn't join because the next focus after getting Palestine into a calm state is to focus on Ukraine, which conflicts heavily with EU and friends plans.

Seeing the genocide in Gaza and the unlimited support by Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Australia, and many other countries make it clear, law and ethics have no value, it is all about money and power, and we see the division because the US oligarchs are fighting for more.
