I hope the Italians can use this energy for cleaning up their own fascism.

Not sure why this person is getting down voted. The Italian government party calls itself "neo fascist". Meloni says she has a Mussolini bust. They very openly use fascist symbols in their party.

They are protesting their facist government bringing facists ice agents to Italy

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

That is part of it

I still do not understand why ICE have to be or should be in Italy. Other than toact as some sort of shitty security detail.

They want to punish athletes who protest. They’re there to intimidate the Americans, not the Italians or anyone else.

I’m curious to see if any of the athletes who brought their families are gonna stay.

Unfortunately many of the competitors are rich kids with conservative parents, so I haven’t seen any likely candidates yet.

ICE itself should not exist. It's primary purpose is to intimidate every normal person and divide our nation, while only the psychopaths and sociopaths cheer them on.

Trump knows they are loyal to him, so he likes to parade them around. I guess now he likes doing this on the world stage.

Could you fucking imagine if foreign military forces just started showing up in the states?

At least they are not the streets trying to kidnap people.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So they're just openly brownshirts now?

That is in the video, although it is in Spanish.

Autoridades de EE. UU. anunciaron que ICE y otras agencias federales estarán en Milán durante el evento. Argumenten que protegerán a los estadounidenses visitantes y le delegación de su país.

I've not checked the Law recently but I'm fairly certain they don't have jurisdiction in Italy.

Let me check the law real quick

...

Oh, yup looks like they got rid of that thing.

I don’t understand this, who the fuck let them in?

Did they honestly just show up on a boat without any due process?

For sure. Can't they arrest them for working in the EU without a work visa?

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Who's going to protect American visitors and the country's delegation from ICE?

[–] truthfultemporarily@feddit.org 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

"Security" for the Olympic games.

You know, like how North Korea has "security" for its athletes.
