One could note that, since this man was arrested and so far none of the folks named in the Epstein files have been, they consider speaking for a few seconds past the allotted time to be a worse crime than sexually abusing children for decades.

When in fact the crime was actually just not being rich

Have you ever seen a chart like this, that look at the 3 stages of matter, based on temperature and pressure?

The propensity for a crime to lend you arrested is proportional to its gravity, like higher temperature on the chart being proportional to water turning gaseous.

But then how wealthy you are is like pressure: it completely pushes the boiling (arresting) point away...

Idk if it's a good analogy, I'm tired

[–] kureta@lemmy.ml 32 points 2 months ago

Sick analogy bro!

[–] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 13 points 2 months ago

Its definitely a good analogy could probably do with some workshopping though.

But what about poor little Plasma?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

where water turning to steam is punishment, x axis is the relative inconvenience to rich people by a poor person, and y axis is "gravity of crime". Jaywalking while white, no arrest. If getting run over by drunk rich guy... your fault. Same for free speech longer than permitted.

I think we already knew that they consider criticism worse than raping children. They thing everything is worse than raping children. They think raping children is an enjoyable hobby.

When the president does it, that means it's not illegal.

has become

When a rich person does it, that means it's not illegal.

Remember kids: police exist to protect the corporations, and are little more than the foot soldiers of the ruling socio-economic ethnic group.

[–] douglasg14b@lemmy.world 52 points 2 months ago

Police are to society like HR is to workers.

They are not there for you, they are there to serve and protect their masters and enforce their masters will against the rest of us.

Just leave out the ethnic part and you're right. White billionaires will happily work with Chinese and Russian and Arabic billionaires to fuck over everyone else. Yes, most billionaires are white and there is absolutely an aspect of deep white supremacy to the system in the West, but they just don't give two fucks about color of skin as long as you have money and power.

[–] funkajunk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

No, the ethnic part is absolutely valid.

You're talking about international business dealings, I'm talking about domestic "law enforcement". In most every country in the world, there is a dominant ethnic group.

Fascists are feeling emboldened now. Our hateful narcissism behind the authoritarian punishment of minorities and poor people is finally catching up to us. I'm not saying everyone getting hurt by it deserves it, however as a country we've been building toward this, enthusiastically, for a long time.

It's going to take generational leadership to unfuck all of this and I don't see that happening. We need a parallel justice system that operates solely to hold our bullshit legal system accountable. No one will want to do that until it's too late. But it's crazy how we just let the courts, cops and politicians all work together to fuck us over and exact state violence against us with no repercussions.

I hope he can sue and win and it bankrupt the city. And everyone of the city council member is voted out of office. This is bullshit.
