Trump has no power to “decree” that voters must present ID or to end mail-in balloting. But that doesn’t mean he can’t at least try both. Under the Insurrection Act or some other dusty statute, he can declare a state of emergency. Then he can decide that said state permits, nay requires, him to take extraordinary measures. On October 5, say, that might mean outlawing early voting. By October 13, it might mean no mail-in voting. By October 29, a reminder that all voters must present ID to vote. And by Sunday, November 1, two days before the election—an announcement that all these “reasonable” measures have alas failed, and he is now forced, against his will, to postpone the election.

The regime has detailed plans (which were published) to subvert the election in cooperation with ally states. The regime has poured obscene amounts of money into arming a masked militia of 'federal agents', currently murdering & disappearing dissenters, with impunity.

The closing gambit in the face of inevitable major dissent is to provoke violence and use it as an excuse to declare martial law which includes suspension of Habeas Corpus.

The corporate captured Democrats are not going to save you.

Welcome to dictatorship.

I was more than willing to believe that Trump might try to cancel elections or take over the media. But even I, when I sat down to think about exactly how, couldn’t quite pin down the specifics. No president had ever tried to do either of those things, so how exactly could Trump pull them off?

Man, they wrote it all down as much as a year before the 2024 election. It was called Project 2025. They even posted it online, for everyone to read.

That’s one of the primary things that utterly baffles and infuriates me - THIS WAS ALL PUBLIC.

They literally wrote out their playbook, and yet there are TONS of people and media pundits and “opposition” politicians going like

For fucks sake, you are not allowed to be surprised by this.

Ironic now that Jim Brewer is a maggot

Oh, huh, I didn’t realize 🤦‍♂️

Yeah I sadly didn't know until recently

I remember when project 2025 came out there was a lot of idiotic rhetoric about it such as "its just a think tank bro" and "they aren't elected so the document is meaningless".

I read it and thought it would be their downfall. I really thought newspapers would tear that thing apart. I thought it would be over for them long before the election.

It reads like, paraphrasing:

"We will take all the good things away and spit in your face"

Trump has no power to “decree” that voters must present ID or to end mail-in balloting.

But he can send ICE to polling stations and arrest anyone that looks like they would vote Democrat

Americans hoping they can dig themselves out of this mess by voting are just continuing to push the goal post for action down the line

The best non violent option is nation wide general strike.

Time is fast running out for the corporate captured Democrats to be on the right side of history.

My first reaction "everyone just wear red hats to go vote". But then when they rig it anyway they can say "look at all these supporters it makes sense".

I think its game over for usa...

The USA was on the verge of an epic fall and, instead of jumping away from the ledge, they said "what if we set ourselves on fire? maybe we'll float?"

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 28 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

This has been blatantly obvious for 1 year.

[–] oxysis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 3 hours ago

Hey now, it’s been blatantly obvious since January 6th, 2021

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 11 points 3 hours ago

He tried before already.
