Ana Tiburcio won Pennsylvania House District 22 in Lehigh County, defeating Republican Robert E. Smith Jr. in a race that the party had to hold at all costs. Across the state, Jennifer Mazzocco claimed District 42 in Allegheny County, beating Republican Joseph Leckenby in the South Hills area near Pittsburgh. Both races were called on Tuesday night, and both winners wasted no time celebrating what felt like more than just a local political victory.

According to Wikipedia: District 22 has been held by a Democrat going back to 1969 (except one rep flipped from Dem to Repub for a year in 2005 then lost his next election lol). In recent elections, the Dem ran mostly unopposed, and winning by 35 points in the others.

District 42 is similar going back to 2007.

Still fantastic news, but the headline says they flipped these seats, making it seem that these were previously held by Republicans.

Well, cool and all but they better fucking hurry because trump will have his coup and just get rid of all of it or starts civil war

They didn't just win, they won by blowout margins.

Ana Tiburcio won by almost 35 points and Jennifer Mazzocco won by 63 points.

sixty three points - holy fuck, that’s wild. And shockingly good news tbh.

Are they run-of-the-mill Dems or something closer to the left?

Only time will tell. I'm looking at you, Fetterman.

Don't look directly at Fetterman. I think the brain rot is transferred by eye contact.

Duly noted. "glancing askance at fetman."
