I will be driving around to various gas stations putting these stickers up next weekend. In the deepest reddest part of the south.

I hated it when they put those Biden stickers out during/just after covid. One of the vape/cbd shops i used to buy from weekly put a Biden "i did that" sticker on their credit card pin pad.

I never went back.

Thank you saying the obvious part out loud.

All the more reason to switch to renewables as much and as soon as possible.

[–] inari@piefed.zip 2 points 1 week ago

The boosting of renewables resulting from this war is the one silver lining here

Hybrid and electric drivers during the petrol price rise:

Wait until you find out diesel still runs the entire rest of your society

[–] lnxtx@sopuli.xyz 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait for a electricity price rise and a peak demand for PV.

Do they not buy groceries?

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fuck it, let's go to $190 my body is ready

[–] ltxrtquq@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Gas has been too cheap for a while now, there are way too many pick up trucks on the road.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Agreed. When gasoline gets expensive enough American suddenly find common sense. Personally I think this is another major turning point for renewable energy.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Too bad the current goon in charge has killed all renewable projects in the US because he hates windmills.

[–] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 3 points 1 week ago

He’s doing it for the whales. Everyone knows they hate the windmills. /s

Squeezed from both sides: gas prices going up. Electric prices also going up (AI datacenters)

[–] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Even if electricity costs doubled, it would still only cost me 20 bucks a month to run my EV.

[–] FatVegan@leminal.space 1 points 1 week ago

I just don't think that really helps. Yeah they are stupid gas guzzlers for idiots, but if you're dumb enough to spend that much money on a truck and the insane upkeep, what is a bit gas money gonna do? It's just an extra expense for the privilege of looking dumb.

Is this the FAFO the Americans keep taking about?

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 5 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They just added a few trillion to the debt pile and pumped up a crazy AI bubble while shooting inflation up already with tarrifs, and continues to alienate all (former) allies, suppliers and export market. What's the worst they can happen, right? It's not like suddenly rising oil prices can trigger bubbles popping /s

We're now past the FA phase. Unfortunately, we've only just started finding out.

It's Trump's war on Iran.

Not Iran's war

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

There was no apostrophe in the title, why did you post this?

"I'm tired boss"

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Not a great idea in a petroleum based society. Everything has petroleum and plastic; tires, shoes, packaging, clothes, even chewing gum.

Why does this even matter. It was up to 128 dollars a barrel years ago before the Saudis tanked oil prices and it didn't effect the price at the pump in any meaningful way

[–] Jackhammer_Joe@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

It's a corrupt cartel. They are price gauging all the way from the source to the gas station and beyond. That's why all of them lobby against alternative / renewable energy resources

A thriving economy just causes pollution anyway and I planted tons of hazelnut trees years ago so I would have just enough free protein to survive if food supplies run out :-) I for one welcome the return of a hunter gatherer economy.
