It was an Australian summer, correct.
They’re all either wet and hot, or dry and hot. It’s summer. In Australia.
In California experience has shown that a wet year brings flowers and grasses which dry out in 6 months and make a stronger fire season. Get the fire lines cut and evacuation routes cleared.
Yeah that's just the norm in Australia for nearly every year as almost the whole country experiences just two seasons - "wet" or "dry".
P.S. sorry about giving you the idea to plant all those eucalypts over there during the gold rush, that was a bit of a mistake.
