This isn’t going to be like Iraq. Iran probably can’t withstand a full on assault/invasion but they have enough firepower and tech to make it hurt. This is going to be more like Vietnam than Iraq.

hurt our allies. Our strongest defenses are for our stuff, then unfortunately israel, then stable allies, and countries in this region get the ass end of our tech. Trump won't care at all.

I mean, if the US goes ahead with boots on the ground the cost could be immense. Like Afghanistan, Iran is extremely mountainous. Unlike Afghanistan, Iran has a population of almost 100 million, spread across an area almost 3 times the size of Texas. And you can bet the Iranians paid very close attention to the tactics that worked in Afghanistan, on both sides. Tunnels and caves are extremely effective at nullifying air power, and tanks and IFVs don't do well in mountains. That means you're mostly left with grunts and artillery, fighting in terrain they don't know, and which their opponents know intimately. And that opponent has been preparing for this fight for quite some time.

Vietnam was known for guerilla warfare in the jungle, I'm not sure if the comparison holds (beyond the obvious that it'll be an unnecessary quagmire)

Huh, the battery only has one radar and there are only 8 worldwide? That seems like a self-own

Seems like these are interceptor batteries for the really big boys. Anti ICBM essentially.

Each interceptor is apparently 13 million. Which is between 4 and 10 times the price of a patriot missile.

The radar alone is 300 million. And they designated they need 9 globally, but they were only at 8. Now 7.

Absolutely mental.
