Since Diaper Donnie is soon going to be rubbing his hands in glee to send Americans now into his meat grinder over wars he starts, how do you plan to avoid the draft?

I'm too old to join, thank god. Too old and too out of shape for them to bother caring. Plus a lot of psychological issues that will make me more likely shoot my superior that's telling me I need to kill innocents to help king pedo succeed in his bullshit missions.

You might want to specify a country here.

We know where you are, but you're not the centre of the universe.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago

I am at the center of the universe! Please help, there’s no air only this blackish looking hole. Also no good taco places. Send help!

I have autism and E category. That means in case of war I will be exterminated, by enemy army instead of being drafted to army.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 9 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Just say you have adhd or some other ailment and require a lot of meds. For most of you that’s probably true. Hell, my medication pile is bigger than my meals.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 8 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

They will waive that if they have to, plus RFK wants to get rid of those along with SSRIs.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

“They will waive that if they have to”

“If”

“they have to”

The further down you are on the list the less likely they’ll need you… and the more time you have to visit you’re cousin overseas if it starts looking to hot outside… in Minecraft of course.

The second thing is rfk can get rid of whatever he wants but people are going to need that thing still. He can ban heart medicine but when a recruiter asks about your health you can still bring up your are supposed to be on medicine and you can’t function without it.

The heart condition excludes you regardless… or… moves you down the list and you have more time to play Minecraft before you have to go visit that cousin of yours.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

RFK wants to send people with ADHD and autism to labor camps. I don't think having ADHD puts you lower on the list

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Good luck getting us to work effectively lol

That’s rfk just being stupid. He doesn’t have that kind of power.

Also that’s a massive swath of the population it’s not that easy. It would take a lot of time and resources. Which gives me time to go see my cousins.

That sounds like a problem...

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 3 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure it is not illegal to say how you just like seeing dead bodies, even if it's your own commander.

You're not threatening anybody. You're just sharing preferences.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Probably a good idea to start teaching the young guns about grenading.

By being Canadian. Y'all can come live in my basement, my little American basement babies.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 11 points 22 hours ago

Thanks homie. I'll cook every night.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

That's one of the greatest acts of friendship y'all keep offering us. It's always been appreciated

[–] swordgeek@lemmy.ca 4 points 22 hours ago

Man, you're WAY more charitable than I!

In 2016, I offered formal asylum to a few dangerously leftist US friends of mine.

This time 'round (2024) I publicly revoked it. I'm done with the country as a whole. They need to stay there and figure their shit out.

I don't think Trump could end his presidency faster than by invoking a draft.

[–] Aeao@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

So what you’re saying… just so I’m clear and we both are on the same page:

Are insinuating the some are born to wave the flag (the red white and blue) but that ain’t you? Well that is unfortunate, son.

[–] fallaciousBasis@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Trump can't. Congress can.

I hear they don't let trans people in. Could try that

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 22 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

that's how you end up in a labor camp making military drones instead

[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 6 points 20 hours ago

Labor camp if you do, labor camp if you don’t. Unless you’re a 14yo biological girl. There’s a different camp for you.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 19 hours ago

If you're lucky

Autism Spectrum Disorders are actually a disqualifying factor, in particular, found in DoD Instruction 6130.03, Volume 1, Paragraph 6.28, Sub-paragraph C.

[–] atopi@piefed.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 day ago

by being in a country that doesnt have a draft and by being trans

[–] darthelmet@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Do you think they’d actually bring back the draft? I feel like after Vietnam they realized that it’s too hard to send the general population to do terrible shit without getting a lot of pushback. A professional military that’s already filtered out anyone with a conscience is half of why they can just do shit like this while most of the country doesn’t want it. Plus technology has improved a lot, allowing a smaller force to do the same thing.

As for me. I’m already out of that age range, but I’ve already been wanting to move for a while. Maybe that would be the last kick in the pants necessary to get me to actually do it. But with the depression it’s still kind of a coin flip so….

[–] lordnikon@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

The DoD thinks its a dumb idea to have a draft as the quality of the fighting force is degraded and other Incentives work better. The problem is facts and good reasoning are not something that the current administration is known for. Half want a Holy war to bring about Armageddon. The other half will do it based on something they see on social media.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 21 hours ago

I mean we are talking about an administration that things tarriffs are great and constantly swaps them around and also that sending paramilitary into cities is great. trying to get rid of abortion and straight up suggesting woman should not vote.

shoot my superior that's telling me I need to kill innocents

Everybody, tell them this!

It could be a beautiful strategy to avoid the draft.

[–] NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net 51 points 1 day ago

The phrase "Yes, officer, please put me in a building with access to weapons and military officials." Is a very useful tool.

Fragging is back on the menu, boys! /s

[–] TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's funny how a small group of people can make 99% of the world do heinous things they don't necessarily want to do but the masses rarely fight back. Tyrants will never be afraid when they know nobody will ever do anything effective against them. Noone can convince me we aren't already in at least the first ring of hell based on how fucked up this world is.

[–] French75@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

If you haven't read about the Milgram Experiment, it's a fascinating, and disheartening journey into notions of authority and compliance. In short... Milgram's finding was that most people do what they're told--even when they known it's wrong--simply because they're told to do it.

Fight for an Independent California.

Was in the Marines before, hated it and left to go to school. Would never think about joining back up. However I actually unironically would be willing to fight for California to be its own country, America is already on decline and society is fucked in general.

Aside from that maybe I'd expatriate and go to my mother's home country in Central America and try to improve things there.

[–] GreenShimada@lemmy.world 57 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I'm too old, but remember doing this planning after 9/11. (FWIW, if it didn't happen then, it's really likely not going to happen now, but you never know. Always good to have a plan.) Here he's some options:

First option: conscientious objectors are still allowed. Go join a Buddhist temple (treeleaf.org is an online one). But you have to commit. Be a member in good standing, take the precepts, actually participate. Similarly, you can be exempted if you're a priest. Do you genuinely think that aliens are angels and that the alien god Raël is our savior? Great! Start a local Ralean church and start preaching. Do it on YT! Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Perfect! We need more Pastafarians to get it legally recognized in more states.

Second option: Mental Health Disqualifications. An ADHD diagnosis CAN sometimes be enough to get a deferral (but Petey might sign a blanket waiver). Gender dysphoria as well, and with this administration, they're so trans-phobic that seems like a slam dunk (assuming there's no trans gulag you'll end up at). The important part to any mental health disqualification is treatment or meds in the last 12 months (24 months maybe).

Third option: Stay in school, kids. Regular university attendance still is ground for a deferral....today at least. Grad school? PhD program? Might be worth the application fee.

Fourth option: Leaving the country. A lot of people ended up in Canada during Vietnam. Digital nomad visas are easy to get in a lot of places. An alternative to this would be Peace Corps service, which would let you defer being drafted until your service is done. You can extend up to 5 years in the same country. Also a large number of people in PC during Vietnam. Considering it survived when USAID didn't, I'd say anyone qualified might as well start applying now as it can take up to a year to a placement.

Last option: Be the sole income earner for your family. So marry someone - anyone - and be employed, preferably in an industry that won't go away during a draft (sorry, DoorDash isn't going to cut it). I had a grand parent who was a welder during WWII who wasn't drafted based on this one.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd be careful with the mental health one given how they've been positioning to send people with ADHD to "wellness farms" and lord knows what they'd do with trans draft dodgers.

Wait that's an option? 👀

Hmm I guess I'll just die. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I'll find my faith into Buddhism or something lmao. (cuz buddists can't do violence so you have religious exemption)

Oh yea btw, my mom called me weak and cowardly and unmannly and once told me "You should join the military so you can become more 'Manly' and 'brave'"

I was like "Sureee mom, so when WW3 breaks out and they deploy me to Taiwan, I get to shoot at China's PLA soldiers..." (context: my family is from China) then mom got mad at me and told me that I'm so weak no military would ever accept me anyways... lmfao.

So if I get drafted and die in war... maybe my mom will finally be happy that her son "died a man" or whateverz...
