badposting is a comm where you post badly

This is not a !the_dunk_tank@hexbear.net alternative. This is not a !memes@hexbear.net alternative. This is a place for you to post your bad posts.

Ever had a really shitty bit idea? Joke you want to take way past the point of where it was funny? Want to feel like a stand-up comedy guy who's been bombing a set for the past 30 minutes straight and at this point is just saying shit to see if people react to it? Really bad pun? A homemade cringe concoction? A cognitohazard that you have birthed into this world and have an urge to spread like chain mail?

Rules:

  1. Do not post good posts.
    • Unauthorized goodposting is to be punished in the manner of commenting the phrase "GOOD post" followed by an emoji that has not yet been used in the thread
    • Use an emoticon/kaomoji/rule-three-abiding ASCII art if the rations run out
  2. This is not a comm where you direct people to other people's bad posts. This is a comm where you post badly.
  3. This rule intentionally left blank.
  4. If you're struck for rule 3, skill issue, not allowed to complain about it.

Code of Conduct applies just as much here as it does everywhere else. Technically, CoC violations are bad posts. On the other hand: L + ratio + get ~~better~~ worse material bozo

My browser goes to the social club and tells all your browsers about how i basically never have more than 4 tabs open and close them when I'm finished

look, i need all those tabs of fanfics, and interactive fiction and youtube music playlists, and news sites, the browser is just going to have to suck it up

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 3 points 43 minutes ago (1 children)

Fan fiction? Like fiction about fans?

you're saying a fan wrote this fiction?

uhhh i guess that's all i've got

[–] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 3 points 54 minutes ago (1 children)

I had to open another window because the number of tabs in the previous 2 windows got to be too many to keep track of.

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 3 points 41 minutes ago

previous 2 windows

How many websites even are there?

[–] ProgAimerGirl@hexbear.net 5 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

tell my browser i'm opening 100 more tabs for this

There are dozens of us!

I truly didn't realize 100 was such a low estimate

[–] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 2 points 16 minutes ago

Its like I just make a bookmark if I need to visit it again

100 tabs? I would never let it get that low.

i'll never understand how people function with the 5 billion tabs in 20 windows thing. my partner does this and anytime she's asking me for help i get so pissed off because neither of us can find the damn thing we were just looking at. why? WHY do people do this?

[–] Azarova@hexbear.net 9 points 2 hours ago

What if I need that page later? Surely I'll come back to it later, so it needs to stay open. blob-no-thoughts

Honestly I'd prefer to set my browser to not reopen tabs and start with a fresh slate every day but it's so disruptive when the browser freezes while you are using it and you know that you have to restart the browser and loose all the tabs you are using right now.

[–] edie@lemmy.encryptionin.space 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

most browsers have an option to re-open what was just closed. If it crashes, it will even ask you if you want this automatically. Otherwise on Firefox, history > restore previous session.

I found that this works when I restart the computer but not when I close frozen browser.

edit: Ok maybe it does work.

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

are you closing it via task manager? if you do it should* bring back everything without a fuss next time you start it up

*it works for me anyway

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 1 points 1 hour ago

I don't remember shit, just that this is why switched reopening tabs back on.

[–] Midnight_Pearl@hexbear.net 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

lmfao it's way more than 100

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 10 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

it's like 5 windows and roughly 1,600 tabs last i checked

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 7 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

When your overestimate is laughably small.

Do you ever look at them?

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

semi-often! honestly i used to be way worse about it too, cramming 3k+ tabs into a single window until my browser would just keel over

now i make more of an effort to curate/silo off stuff into actual bookmarks

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I gotta up my webpage game. I just browse hexbear until i've seen every post then read some arguments on game forums before closing firefox.

[–] Kuori@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

does this count as corrupting the youth doggirl-tears

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 2 points 39 minutes ago

Am i doing the corrupting? I'M CLEANSING THEM

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I tend to hit the browser’s max limit and then just delete tabs when I want to open new ones

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 2 points 42 minutes ago (1 children)

there's a max limit? Dare I ask how many that is?

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 1 points 13 minutes ago

In iOS Safari, the max limit is 500. So not that bad

[–] nothx@hexbear.net 8 points 3 hours ago

I don’t appreciate my browser calling out my mental illness like this. Time to switch browsers I guess.

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 12 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Imagine what my browser tabs look like.
